I guess I'll try and catch up a bit on the lore at some point, but without playing through it myself I doubt that it will grab me the same way that the intermittent cutscenes and chapter-end cinematics of WC3 did. Sadly I never got to experience the wow equivalent for significant story progression, i.e. the high level raids, during my short stint in wow. Perhaps if I did I would've had more interest in the recent lore developments :P
Nobbel87 on youtube is your go to guy if you want the most recent and detailed lore developments and he is currently doing the most detailed lore on the Athas the Lich King right now.

But for quick summeries look at this:

Here's a few of tracks no one as mentioned yet (I think).

Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time
I recommend the whole soundtrack really, it fits the game perfectly and is a good listen on itself. For me three tracks stand out: The Tower of Dawn, Attack of the Sand Griffins and Time Only Knows. Context is everything in this case. The first one is the score to the toughest battle in the game, the second is the score to the first boss fight and the last one is the haunting end credits song.

Assassin's Creed 3
Never played it, but I found this on YouTube: Aphelion. It doesn't get much more epic than this.

Just finished listening to it, and it's now another gem on my playlist thanks! I can definitely hear the similarities yes, that is except for the awesome guitar bit at the end of Ancestors of the Lake :)
