(Northern Main Tunnel)

I hurry up the gangplank and join the others. "I can serve as a rigger and assist in handling the sails and rigging if needed, I served on the Pearl of the Americas for over ten years!"

muddysneakers: Squee quietly crawls back down the tunnel and around the bend. He climbs down the wall and sees Damon and Vanathradil. He whispers to them that there are (counts on fingers) lots of duergars around the corner distracted by playing cards.
Vanathradil Elf Mage

"Squee, you are a smart goblin, indeed! You have proven a very valuable ally in this dungeon and by coming back to inform us of the duergar, you increase our chances of survival significantly. I am sure the duergar will react favorably to us after we tell them that we slayed the illithid. Let's go talk to them at once."

I cast invisibility on Damon. "Damon, come with us but try to stay silent whatever the duergar say, observe the environment and be ready in case we are attacked."

I turn at the corner and walk towards the duergar starting to talk to them loudly while approaching to make my presence known.

"Greetings, master duergar (plural)! The illithid mentioned that we would find you here. You will be glad to hear that we slayed it. We also left some pesky drow left paralyzed and heavily injured up the trapdoor, maybe you would like to finish them and take their treasure. We only care to escape this dungeon. Could you kindly tell us where are the portals or the exit out of this place?"

I stop a few steps before the two doors so as not to get attacked from anything that jumps out of them.

Current Actions Summary

Main Tunnel:

63 - Genocide2099 - Fish - Half Orc Berserker
The undead ones seem to no longer be interested in fighting. I'll board the ship but any hint of hostility and I'll start using my axe again. If I smell any hint of treachery from the captain, I'm coming for him. No more negotiations.

16 - misteryo - Rizzleskiff - Drow Shaman -- ( Cloak of Mirror Images, Levitate )
Rizzleskiff casts Summon Ice Elemental directly below herself, hoping the elemental will fall onto the monster. She mentally instructs the elemental to attack, aiming for eyes. Rizzleskiff then levitates higher and keeps moving north. She casts Ball Lighting at the creature in the water.

57 - ConsulCaesar - Siegfried - Human Paladin -- ( Protection from Elements )
1. I accept BJ's deal and join the crew to fight the Kraken.
2. Of course if a tentacle comes on my range, I'll try to cut it off with my sword.
3. I inspect the ship's resources to see what can be used against the Kraken.
4. During the fight I willI position myself on the bow of the ship. I want to be near the monster, and without a range attack, my only weapon is my silver sword. Hopefully I will cut off some tentacles!
5. I implore BJ to send the sharks as the vanguard of the attack.
6. I politely explain to BJ why this is necessary to gain an advantage for the fight (dumping the piles of corpses overboard as bait for the Kraken)
7. I ask around if they have any rat poison or just anything toxic to season the corpses with it.
8. I firmly ask BJ to use his rum reserves as weapons.

65 - RWarehall - Grom Grombly - Half-Orc Shaman
Grom will board the ship being wary of the zombies. Should I see a kraken, I will cast Lightning Storm to blast it.

68 - matterbandit - Peloquin - Dwarven Thief
Lucky there's no ale in my belly, for I would have vomitted violently at the putrid stench of death that cursed the air I breathed! With my Light Hammer still in hand, I scrutinize the bodies around me, looking for any important details. Behind me, I inspect the cages: anyone or anything inside them? Should any cage need unlocking, I've got my lockpicks ready. The harpoons next to those cages got me thinking: BJ spoke of an enemy living in the waters... Maybe these harpoons are the weapons we need to defeat him? I must tell the others!
I turn back around to face the swinging lantern again. On the left, a door reads "Admiral Polly's Quarters". How odd. Polly is what one would name a parrot! On the right, another door reads "Stinky Laundry Room And Definitely Not Treasure Room". Being the Dwarven Thief that I am, the word "treasure" beckoned me like a brothel! And, truth be told, the stink of laundry was preferable to this stench of death. Relying on my Ring Of Free Movement, I cautiously inspect that door for any signs of traps prior to opening it and disarm if any. I now enter the room and scrutinize my surroundings. Is it truly all dirty laundry and no treasure? If I do indeed find a chest of treasures, I inspect it for traps, disarm if any, then grab the loot, if I be so lucky!

51 - kusumahendra - Henz - Elf Thief
Kraken. Sounds like a bad idea, but it's our only chance to escape this dungeon. I guess it's time to swap my dagger to those new ones I found earlier. Might works better against the Kraken. I'll stand on back side of the boat, but not too close to the edge. I don't want to be knocked off the ship, but at the same time if Kraken attacks it will surely aims for the center of the ship and I don't want to be there either.
I wish the others, especially strong fighters would consider taking the sides of the boat. And whoever have range attack could go to starboard or here with me at the back

34 - Hooyaah - Stefareth - Human Necromancer
1. No longer burdened by Danric's weight and not looking back to see if he follows, I arrive in the main tunnel and approach the ship. I stand readied to assist in attacking the behemoth, hoping to help make a large "crack in" it with my powerful magic. "Permission to come aboard, I yell." My skills as a trained seaman should come in handy as I now stand at the ready, determined to survive and aid the others.
2. I hurry up the gangplank and join the others. "I can serve as a rigger and assist in handling the sails and rigging if needed, I served on the Pearl of the Americas for over ten years!"

45 - phaolo - Loradan - Elven Mage -- ( Levitate )
Loradan decided to remain on the crows nest.
From there he would be able scout for the Kraken and use his ranged spells from a good position.
He recast his expiring magic: Levitate and one protection spell.
He also asked the penguin if he could share any useful info about the beast, like:
- what shape does it have, is it like a giant squid?
- what's its method of attack, does it peek out of the water with the head or does it only show its tentacles?
- which weapon\spells did the captain try against it and what seemed effective or ineffective?

40 - Pouyou-pouyou - Gilius - Dwarven Druid -- ( Eagle Wings )
If it is possible, I summon a stone elemental on the deck of the ship from the crow's nest. And then I instruct him to try to fight the flames on the ship.
I then cast barkskin on myself and Loradan if he is close enough.
"All aboard !"

67 - Testor0 - Rufus - Human Cleric -- (Globe of Protection, Divine Retaliation )
Rufus looks for gun powder, if he can't find some, he asks BJ "Captain, do we 'ave some barrels o' gun powder t' launch toward th' Kraken in order t' explode it face".
Rufus works with his Guardian in order to attack the Kraken ; Rufus gathers the explosives or flammable items in his net and will be used as a lure, with the help of the Guardian if needed.
Without putting fire to the ship, Rufus casts weapon on fire and he is ready to launch it toward the trap/Guardian trap when it will be caught by the Kraken.

55 - direspirefirewire - StrangerDanger - Elven Ranger
I wondering if there is still room on board the ship? I prepare to climb aboard

Side Tunnel:

1 - hummer010 - Hummer - Elven Ranger
Ahhh, I feel whole again with my bow in my hands, and my sword at my belt! I gladly follow my new-found friends down the trap door to seek an escape route from this vile place.

56 - Damon18 - Damon - Dwarf Warrior
I try to understand better where the tunnel leads, I try to focus and listen for anything to move but I can't her any in particular
Seeing the tunnel turning on the left I decide to go ahed.
I just make a small signal with my head to the mage without saying anything and assuming a defensive position, I decide to walk quietly ahead and proceed where the tunnel tunrs

10 - muddysneakers - Squee - Goblin Thief
Squee quietly crawls back down the tunnel and around the bend. He climbs down the wall and sees Damon and Vanathradil. He whispers to them that there are (counts on fingers) lots of duergars around the corner distracted by playing cards.

61 - greeklover - Vanathradil - Elf Mage -- ( Mirror Image, Invisibility )
"Squee, you are a smart goblin, indeed! You have proven a very valuable ally in this dungeon and by coming back to inform us of the duergar, you increase our chances of survival significantly. I am sure the duergar will react favorably to us after we tell them that we slayed the illithid. Let's go talk to them at once."

I stop a few steps before the two doors so as not to get attacked from anything that jumps out of them.

21 - Aramandur - Danric the Exiled - Human Paladin
I follow Vanathradil and Damon. I try to keep out of duergar sight, but I'm also prepared to fight if something goes wrong.
And again, if Squee is in my range, I cast heal on him :P

Action Summary Updated

Post was too long and had to remove the "Current Situation" section. Pasted below for any to still read.

Current Situation:

Captain BJGamer's Pirate ship:
Peloquin discovered a secret area below deck. There are 2 doors here. The left door says 'Admiral Polly's Quarters' and the right door says 'Stinky Laundry Room And Definitely Not Treasure Room'. Above deck, Capn' BJ has agreed not to turn anyone else into a zombie but requests you reign in Fish who is still hacking away at zombies. The zombies have stopped all hostilities towards the group. BJ says, "Right ye landlubbers, all aboard ye who wants to escape this here hellhole!"
IMPORTANT! Those who wish to try to sail away need to board the ship this turn.

Further North over the water:
Rizzleskiff was attacked by the Kraken but was not injured. He remains 6 feet above the water and can clearly make out the Kraken.

Back in the Side Tunnel:
Darci and Tomato have both quit and have been removed from the game. The equipment they stole has been returned to Hummer. Stefareth makes haste towards the pirate ship. The rest either remain in the room or decide to descent into the trap door. Squee has traveled the furthest down the trapdoor. He sees two doors, one on the left and one on the right at the end of the tunnel.
In between these two doors is a table with 6 duergar sat around playing cards. They have not noticed him. There are no traps in the area.
3 turns left to escape.

** TURN 17 **

Northern main tunnel:

16 - Rizzleskiff - Drow Shaman you cast Summon Ice Elemental *rolls dice* which drops with a splash into the water and onto the Kraken. *rolls dice* The Elemental is swiftly overwhelmed in a habitat that it is not suited to. You levitate away from the Kraken and keep heading north. *rolls dice* You cast Ball Lightning at the Kraken *rolls dice* which retreats deeper into the water.
You resume moving north, you strain your eyes to see what appears to be the cave opening.

63 - Fish - Half Orc Berserker you cease hostilities (you are already on the ship) but stand ready to resume chopping zombies at the first sign of treachery.

57 - Siegfried - Human Paladin you move to the bow of the ship and ask BJ to use the sharks as a vanguard for the ship.
Peloquin found harpoons below.
You suggest using the corpses as bait for the Kraken and lacing them with rat poison if any is available.
BJ tells you that there is no rat poison on board, the undead don't really worry about pest problems.
You firmly ask BJ about using his rum stock as weapons and are rebuked for the suggestion. BJ downs two bottles as if he is worried you might take them anyway. Undead OldNick drinks a bottle of rum though it is impossible to tell whether he is enjoying it or not looking at his blank expression.
BJ laughs and gives OldNick a firm pat on the back.

65 - Grom Grombly - Half-Orc Shaman moves onto the ship, welcome aboard!

68 - Peloquin - Dwarven Thief you inspect the corpses but they are naked and conceal nothing of value. The cages behind are all empty. You examine the door to "Stinky Laundry Room And Definitely Not Treasure Room" *rolls dice* you quickly disarm a simple poison dart trap and open the door.
Your eyes almost hit the floor, the room is rammed with chest after chest of treasure. BJ has been a busy boy!
As you fill your pockets with what you deem to be the most valuable items - Diamonds, gem encrusted necklaces, gold - you notice a cake with a card next to it. The frosted cake has a message on it 'Happy 400th B'day BJ' and has eight thick red sticks that are standing in for candles firmly embedded in it. Long strings are attached to the red sticks.
You read the card, the words Happy Birthday are printed in the middle and then scrawled all over the card is the line 'Polly want a cracker!'.

51 - Henz - Elf Thief you retrieve your new daggers, although what use they will do against something as big as a Kraken, you don't know. You move to the Aft of the ship. You suggest that any strong fighter go to the sides to deal with the Krakens tentacles.

34 - Stefareth - Human Necromancer you hurry onto the ship and offer your services as a rigger, being an able seaman. Looking around you notice that the sails are in tatters. You give BJ a quizzical look, he responds sheepishly "Aye, the sails been gone for bout 50 years. Admiral Polly powers this here ship now."
The parrot looks at you.
Welcome aboard!

45 - Loradan - Elven Mage you remain in the crows nest. You recast Levitate on yourself and a protection spell. You question BJ about the Kraken. He replies "It be the mother of all squids, 50 feet long and mean as mean can be! It grabs the ship with its mighty tentacles and tries to drag thee down to the depths to meet Davy Jones himself. Last time I grabbed a couple of brave, and completely willing, seamates and thwacked the beast repeatedly till she let go of me ship. Twas a close thing."

67 - Rufus - Human Cleric you enquire after gun powder but BJ shrugs "Cannons be too heavy, gold is more important."
You look around for explosive or flammable objects to put in your net but to no avail. You call out to anyone who may have fond something of use.

55 - StrangerDanger - Elven Ranger you race up the gangplank, welcome aboard!

40 - Gilius - Dwarven Druid *rolls dice* you summon a Stone Elemental that drops from where you are to crash through the deck, landing in the hold below.
BJ "Ye Gads! What be more dangerous, the Kraken or ye knuckleheaded landlubbers!?".

68 - Peloquin - Dwarven Thief there is loud crash, you peer out the door to see a stone elemental looking back at you.

BJ "Har, har, har, tis time to set sail, so to speak. Let us be gone to shores anew, I know a fine pirate port where ye can buy passage to whereever ye desire to be."
Admiral Pollys eyes glow and the ship lurches into action, moving at brisk pace in a northward direction. After twenty minutes of travel Siegfried notices motes of electricity dancing across the water ahead. You yell out to beware as a large shape rushes to the waters surface to meet you.
StrangerDanger - Elven Ranger

I clamber up one of the ship's masts. Standing in water and electricity isn't healthy. I wonder aloud "I'm hoping the electricity doesn't set anything flammable or explosive alight! Perhaps Gilius's Stone Golem can move up to the deck and prepare to face the electrical monstrosity?"
3 turns left to escape.

** TURN 17 **

Northern side tunnel:

1 - Hummer - Elven Ranger you feel whole again with your weapons returned. You hurry down the trapdoor after your new friends and come to a stop at a left turn. You hear gravelly Dwarf voices from around that bend.

21 - Danric the Exiled - Human Paladin you follow the others down the trapdoor coming to a stop at a left turn in the tunnel. Squee comes into sight and you cast Heal *rolls dice* success.

10 - Squee - Goblin Thief you crawl back around the bend and inform your companions about the Duergar playing cards. You are pleased to see that your party has grown in size. You are healed by Danric.

10 - Squee - Goblin Thief earns the achievement *A Clever Goblin This One Be*

61 - Vanathradil - Elf Mage you thank Squee for his help before casting Invisibility on Damon. You ask Damon to move round the corner in the tunnel with you but to keep quiet and be ready to fight.

56 - Damon - Dwarf Warrior you have been turned invisible by Vanathradil. You move around the turn in the tunnel as quietly as you can to see 6 Duergar playing cards at a table between two doors.

61 - Vanathradil - Elf Mage
You turn the corner and advance towards the Duergar who are startled by your appearance. You stop in front of the table and exclaim "Greetings, master duergar (plural)!

The six Duergar look to each other, then to you, then back to each other. One steps forward and addresses you "Quxtotayl, dead?"
You smile and nod.
The Duergar looks at you then a grin slowly spreads across his face, it is not a pretty sight.

The Duergar motions for you to enter through the door on your left "Come, reward. Many reward!". *rolls dice* You notice the other duergar fanning out to your right, blocking passage to that door.
Rizzleskiff continues levitating north and sees ahead what might be the light of a way out! She is still wearing her Cloak of Mirror Images.

I then cast barkskin on myself and Loradan if he is close enough.
Thank you, Gilius.
But why is your elemental.. *watches it appear nearby and crash below* ..nevermind.

Doc0075:
[ Doc lol, I think Gilius deserves an achievement, because it's like the third time he meant to do something but you interpreted it in a different disastrous way. He's like cursed by the gods XD ]

--

The Kraken finally appeared ahead.. that beast was immense! Loradan never imagined it could have had that size.
It would have crushed the boat like it were a toy! The party couldn't possibly fight that thing in melee range and survive..
Fear made the wizard devise a tricky plan on the spot.

"Captain, I'm impressed by your magic. You can make a ship sail without wind, but.. could you also do it without water?" Loradan said cryptically to BJ.
"I could cast Ice Storm on the Kraken ahead: this will quickly freeze a large part of the water and possibly the beast below."
"If your power can make the ship "skate" on the ice, we'll be able to surpass the monster in one fell swoop!"
"I'll obviously stop in time the blizzard from damaging our vessel."

If BJ agrees with the plan and he's capable to control the ship over the ice, Loradan will cast Ice Storm on the Kraken ahead just as described.

[ Otherwise, he will have to think about something else.
Maybe the ship could just sail around the frozen area, hoping to be fast enough (safer but less epic lol).
Or Loradan could decide to attract the attention of the monster away from the ship by himself.. ]

All right, the duergar seem to be happy that the illithid is dead but the situation seems tricky and the phrase "Come, reward. Many reward!" sounds suspicious. Why did the other duergar move to the other door blocking it? Maybe to protect their treasure , that room could be the room with their beds and stuff , or is that the true exit and they are leading me to a trap? Any ideas about how we should proceed? Maybe wait until everybody arrives and the thief goes first into the left door to search for traps? I am inclined to believe the duergar and go left. After all we only have 3 turns to escape and some of us need one turn to reach the door and one more if the exit is in the room so we will barely make it, I don't think we are supposed to do anything else like forcing a battle to go through the right door, there is not enough time.

I'm with you. I say we cautiously follow the duergar's directions.
