Can't wait to test DOSBox 0.75: V-Sync, CD Volume & Loop control with full AWE64 emulation would be awesome (dream on mode enabled)

SmashManiac: That's an unexpected cause! Thanks a lot for the short version!
Well, that's cutting it far down, of course thee actual cause is far more complicated.

V-sync will not be included

All Dos games works fine only without it

I tried the new version with Dungeon Keeper and Daggerfall, both of which had choppy sound during cutscenes. This is fixed now! Thank you!

Daumcafé-Version of DOSBOX has it as an option and it helps to fix screen tearing is some DOS games (e.g. Alladin) , so I don't see why it will not be included.
Best bet would be to compile a list of games that the issue is most noticeable and how to reproduce so that the issue can be looked into further. In most cases it's likely a game issue but that's not to say things cannot be done to work around the issue to a certain extent. The biggest problems to solve this is compatibility across all operating systems, supports all DOS games and "just work", at the minimum gsync\freesync would likely be required on the host side.

Posting that you want feature x isn't really helpful for this thread since that's know what the subject is about.

Thanks for confirming that the updated cycles guessing code helps with these 2 games.

SmashManiac: Woah, DOSBox isn't dead! Thanks a lot Qbix! Very happy to see official releases again! :)

By the way, considering that the project is open-source, I'm surprised it took so long for a new version, especially considering its popularity boom thanks to GOG. As a developer, I'm curious to know what caused this.
Well, there are actually a lot of reasons that combined into the delay, but "Choosing between universal compatibility and game specific patches" is not an important one. Game specific patches are almost never added, unless it is clear that the game itself is bugged and then only after a lot of testing.

Let me point out 2 important ones as to why a new version took a long time:
1) until recently, we were under assumption, that 0.74-0 was still working very well. When we learned about the timing problems on windows 7, a reason to release a new version or an update became much more clear. Due to massive amount of compatibility related changes that have been made since 0.74, I decided to go for an upgrade instead of a new version, as testing and fixing regressions is time consuming. (There are a lot of DOS games after all)
Blindly releasing new versions might be an alternative (like every 6 months), but it would be quite difficult to get as much testing in as we tend to do, before a new release.

2) As you pointed out, the project is open-source and of such, you should know that we don't get money from people or companies using DOSBox. So due to financial reasons, paid work gets prioritized.

A lot of things were fixed. I only posted an abbreviated changelog in this topic.
PC speaker emulation still the same with the same bugs...

It was fixed in some unofficial dosbox versions...

when a sound have to repeat more times is a loop...

That description is too vague for me to work with.
Please give me game names.

But you are correct. I didn't touch the pcspeaker for this release.
All games that use PC Speaker have this bug

I'm trying to search a video with that problem, but is very difficult...

edit: check this https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=29603
(is very old, i don't know if there are new discussions for this)

Super Space Invaders '91 crash after intro

edit: output=opengl works properly only for emulate 320x200 resolution, not all other... only ddraw output can do this for all other resolutions, and scanlines with output=opengl works only for 320x200... with ddraw are still bad, so yes, it need some more tweaks (with all other resolutions scanlines works only with scan2x forced, but with bad scanlines... so i think that shaders are needed)

Several open-source projects keep dual releases to work around this: one stable version and one fresh version. Not sure if that approach makes sense for DOSBox though.

That honestly surprises me. If a was a publisher with a back catalog of DOS games, I would definitively consider investing in the development of DOSBox to bring the games back to market.
Have you implemented a game fixe for Lands of lore 2 and crash in Huline Jungle Village with dosbox or is it scheduled for dosbox 0.75?
