Unlike movies, many TV series that start great (X-Files, True Blood, Dexter, House, etc) can outlast their welcome, ultimately leaving a bad taste in your mouth unfortunately.

I'm surprised you didn't mention A Serbian film too along with those titles as feel-good movie. :P

Oh yes definitely. Somebody would have no other recourse than to use physical force to tear me away from the credits' ending theme. Unless it's during the day. Blade Runner's soundtrack just doesn't sound right while the sun's out :P

I tried getting into Babylon 5 but was unable. As for X-Files, there are several incredibly weak episodes yes, but those that deal with the meta story are generally very good or even excellent. I wouldn't mind going on an X-files marathon watching only those episodes, with good independent episodes mixed in (liver eating guy, glowing green forest insects etc.)
In case you missed my post, I did wind up seeing Cool Hand Luke. It was incredible.

What can I say, my parents let me watch too many violent movies as a child. :P

Babylon 5 is inconsistent. It can be wooden/awkward at times (I think the showrunner had some great ideas, but I don't think he's a born writer, he can't always fill the gaps between moments well), but the best moments of the show will be seared into your brain forever.

for X-Files, I guess many of the episodes are pretty standalone, so it's not so bad to watch those by themselves.
