I don't know who Finkleroy's friends are. It's not the mods job to be a intermediary between me and Finkeroy. Finkerory didn't break any forum rules that I know of.

With that said...

I think your better "play" would have been to simply post here asking Finkleroy -- or a friend of his -- to communicate with you in hopes of resolving your issue privately. Period. But you didn't do that.

Instead you made as many accusations -- publicly -- as you claimed were made of you privately. That is not the recipe for coming together and solving issues. Your actions created a bigger wedge and less possibility of discussion happening.

If you were looking for sympathy -- based on what you have shown -- I have none to give. I wish you well.

Well it's not a issue about a real job but then the stakes on the other side are much smaller as well. Finkleroy is in no risk of losing their position as manager of the give-away. So it's fine.

well some like me are private people and dont want people to know stuff about them. this is common among introverts like myself.

I have my Steam profile set to private since forever. Besides make it a bit more easier to invite friends to play together, why should I set it to public?

I've saw your original post in the Giveaway thread and I think you are missing the reason you're banned, and it was not from simply asking for a apology.

I'm not defending anyone and really don't care about the drama (more so it happen in private and should stay as such) but the way you had it on the giveaway post was greed, nothing else. I can't remember your exact words but striked me as :"I had personal problems, can you open a exception so I can get more free games on April?". Being fair, English is probably not you native language and certain not mine so it's easy to misjudge some people intention on a couple of words alone (even more about cultural diferences)...

Also, put yourself in Finkle's place, it's very tiring managing both giveaways, he really has to spend a LOT of time and energy on those. You can imagine this being a magnet for people just wanting to grab free games, and being able to filter that is also very time consuming, it's not a matter of saying "granted" to every asked game.
Someone asks to open an exception so they can eventually get more free games (remember, most games on the giveaways were actually bought by other users, they did not fall from a tree) and shortly after, asking for a apology for eventually not using the words I would like to hear.

My point is that your very first post had a bit of rudeness by itself, even if the words were not harsh. That said, I can feel your pain in being banned because of a misunderstanding...

Note, this was only a few hours after the monthly deadline, Finkeror was not even on to grant requests or give notice of it turning to the new month, so it was all about the technicalities of the rules and the post date of the request.

I was certainly not banned for making that obviously polite request.

In fact (in PM) Finklerory specifically said I was not banned, then I complained about being insulted and asked for an apology (that was the full content of what I said, aside from saying I accepted the refusal of the request)
After which Finklerory said I was banned along with further insults from Finklerory. I see no other interpretation than I was banned for asking for an apology.

It's been said in posts before me, but here it is again:

No one gave finkleroy any "power" to the giveaway. We send him our codes, he puts them up for grabs. He tries to be fair with everyone regardless. He is an unpaid mediator, and is doing this on his free time, which in my book is the most valuable thing. Not only that, he's quick to act and very organized. He is not abusing any "power". He made the thread and people contribute to it. Others hold on to their keys and make their own giveaways.

Threatening to not send any codes, because you weren't given special treatment, is not something that affects him personally; and if you were being petty on that topic, I can safely assume that said pettiness would seep into other aspects of your conversation with him.

Requesting special treatment, which would be unfair to others, would also, in a sense, insult finkleroy, as you're requesting he throws away his 'tegridy. Based solely on the information you've provided, and filling in the gaps from your sentences on how you handled it, then finkleroy was right to ban and block you.

Dragging this into the public forum, again, is a sign of entitlement, pettiness and narrow-mindness.

Time to drop the topic altogether and stop with the defensive posts.

Accept the loss, recognize your mistakes and move on.

Everyone who gives Finkleroy codes is giving Finkleroy power over those codes.

I hear what you're saying about rules being important. But they aren't the be all to end all. It was a perfectly reasonable request and I accepted the "no" answer.

As far as saying I would donate less codes as a response to that refusal because I need the codes, that's my prerogative. What does Finklerory care? Well it all contributes to the health of the Give-away system. If that doesn't matter to Finklerory, then that's fine. it wasn't a "threat" in the first place, only information about consequences.

I was banned for asking for an apology for rude insults from Finklerory directed at me. Maybe it was cumulative along with having made a polite request for a tiny exception to the rules, but that's still no reason to ban me.

Don't forget it's also a sign of serial killers, the apocalypse and of being left handed, because why not. We can just claim random negative things cause we can.

You know what? You're right. We're wrong. It should be us who move on and completely ignore this thread. Carry on.

Really, it doesn't matter. You felt slighted. You asked for an apology. You weren't given said apology. You were banned.

Those are the irreversible facts.
