It's not. Croteam have added Steamworks to the game, making it dependent on the client. Just stick to your retail copy.

It puzzles me as Devolver releases a lot of their games here on GOG. So why not the SS games?

Also Devolver seems to release their games on GOG, even new games like the Shadow Warrior reboots. So I feel they are pretty open towards GOG as platform. This is what puzzles me.

yeah you'd think so. but maybe they figure the money generated from releasing them on here wouldn't be worth the effort in both man hours and money. offset the cost of lawyers fees, having to file more taxes, international charges, bank fees, and other bits of arbitrary bureaucratic baloney which seem to inevitably work their way into every facet of existence.

and they are pretty cool with gog i think. i think it has more to do with croteam and whatever reasons they've managed to cherry pick out of thin air.

Croteam has already been adamant in the past: they say they have the resources to support one version of the game, so they will go with the one which pays more: Steam.

Still, Devolver could lend a hand there...

I'm more interested in The Talos Principle 2 (which is probably years away with this and the VR stuff they're working on).
