Back in the saddle.

Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive, the tactical gunslinging classic, has recently received an update that brings new content plus several convenient improvements. Here's the rundown:

- Help Cooper, Doc, and Kate save a town from outlaw scumbags in a new mission designed to be the game's demo.
- The game's core technology has been updated to work well on systems running Win 7/8/10.
- Mac and Linux support added!
- Additional language options added: English, French, German, Spanish (both for the demo and main game), Italian, Russian (main game only)

Both Desperados games are now 80% off until July 16th, 5pm UTC. If you haven't tried them yet, go ahead and give them a shot. Or two.
This is very nice but not buying since in all the years I have had the disc, I never got very far into the game. I guess I do not have the patience for this type of games.

Works better on modern Windows and support for Linux (and 32bit OSX too) are nice.
If only all devs/publishers did this.
Just the first game or has 2 been updated as well? I would love to play the two Desperadoes games and Hellderado back to back someday.
Now add native widescreen support! :D

This is the best news I will get today (and it's just after 9AM). My favourite game of all time will run without the VM.

Thanks a lot!

(now do the same with Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood)

DubConqueror: Thanks, I requested a refund. I thought you need to ask a refund within 2 hours of buying, but if the rule is having played it for less than 2 hours, I should be fined, I haven't even installed it yet.

HunchBluntley: If I remember correctly, it's "within 14 days from purchase, or less than 2 hours played".
I got my money back now, Steam is quick in handling refunds!

The process is mostly automatic, only if you request too many refunds, you may be flagged for more thorough review.

That is great news! I have bought this game few years ago. I have tried various workarounds for Windows 10 and wide screen support, but none has enabled me to play properly every mission. Game was crashing too many times and I gave upon it. Now I can give it a second try.

Is the Linux support native or using Wine? This is one of the games I have been eyeing for years, I am a real sucker for the wild west setting.

Native, according to Ganni1987. Can't seem to find the quote function, but here's the link.

Did I wake up in Bizarro World world or something, where publishers actually put effort in their old games? Now if they also open-source the engine it would be perfect, but I guess this world is not that bizarro.
bought it already before probably in some insane sale, but now I can actually eventually also install it and play, thanks for the linux version THQ and GOG, excellent work, appreciated.
I already owned this and have been playing this mostly trouble-free under wine - but there were still some little annoyances with some lag after loading a save game (which, erm, I get to experience more than I'd like to admit) ;) - so the official Linux release is greatly appreciated. Bought an extra copy to give away at some point to show some extra support for having done this. Thanks!

Here's to hoping that Desperados 2 and Robin Hood will follow along with Linux support ere too long as well!

Desperados 2 is going to need a lot more than Linux support to make that piece of shit playable. :P
