I wish they would revive the Freespace series but the original Descent series is still a lot of fun.
Out of interest does anyone know why they removed it? I remember when the first Descent came out and it was the pinacle of gaming. I hadn't like Doom but loved Descent.

Interplay probably lost the rights, they've been selling off their old properties for a while now.

Actually , Interplay haven't payed a lot of royalties to the developers, and they wanted to raise a lawsuit.Interplay went with the easier(and cheaper ;)) route.Glad i bought them.Cheers

Starkrun: Sublevel Zero Is a damn good game on its own.. its basically Decent in a procedural generated "rouge like" universe. it plays very well with perfect 6DOF controls; Its also retro as hell!

I was a little skeptical at first but after loading it up, I'm very happy with my decision to try it out ^_^
Yeah, Sublevel Zero is a lot of fun! But I still hope GOG will get the Descent series back someday.

I'm...not entirely sure how. I didn't even know that was sold anywhere.

Interplay (the publisher) hadn't paid the owners of the series any royalties for years. They, eventually, got fed up of Interplay and sent a cease and desist letter to GOG, prompting the removal of the games.

GOG should have fought the greedy SOBs.

And embroil themselves in a lawsuit? Nah, not worth it.

The people who asked for the games to be removed from sale were the original devs (who still own the rights to most elements of the original series, though not the "Descent" name), and they actually let the games be sold here and on Steam for years without seeing a penny of their agreed-upon royalties from Interplay before finally having the distributors (i.e., the stores) pull them. It's a shitty deal all around, but Interplay is the bad guy here.
As I remembered it, Parallax Software and Interplay made a deal, not uncommon for relatively new studios back in the yearly 90'. The sad reality of the Descent IP's is that it's scattered like an expensive broken vase...

Parallax Software made Descent I and II, and split into two companies, Volition and Outrage, which was later slurped up by THQ (and then went under in 2012). Outrage made Descent 3.

Parallax owns everything with the games itself. Interplay owns the trademarked name Descent, and owned the right to distribute those games.

Descended Studios, the company that is making the new Descent game, bought the right to use the name from Interplay, and for many years Interplay sold those three Descent games here on GOG and made money, while Parallax didn't get a dime.

The ONLY place we have a confirmed statement that Parallax still exists is here on GOG, and I really wonder what the future holds and if they can resolve this. Since GOG removed those games, and the subsequent heated discussion that followed, it has been quiet...

You posted an animated gif in another thread.

Doesn't matter if the pizza is pre-made (with jalapeno) or homemade; just add more jalapeno, salsa, Tabasco, tortilla, and extra cheese ;-)

...a taco. What you're looking for is called a taco. The open-faced, ACTUAL Mexican kind.
Or the variation known as the "Mexican pizza" which is really just a tostada.
