Telika: Okay, that was better than the absolute whole of Deadpool 1.
(Also : spoiler warning for "The Old Man And The Sea" in case you meant to read it.)
tinyE: You didn't like the first movie!?
YOU BASTARD! I KILL YOU!!!
Meh. To be fair, I'm not the absolute best client for superhero movies. That trailer was the right length.
No seriously, I expected Deadpool to be more gimmicky. It felt like... the usual boring stuff with 10% more wisecracks ? Back to Mystery Men with me. Or to parodic sketches, which this trailer felt like. Wake me up when Marvel hires Zucker, Abraham & Zucker.
Thinking of it, superhero movies are like star trek, to me. I enjoy the bits (or versions) that really subvert them or go to weird direction, away from what makes the franchises cool to their fans. Galaxy Quest and the silly parts of Voyage Home for Star Trek. Mystery Men, Ant Man's electric train and Captain America's clever re-contextualization as a cheezy was propaganda tool, for superheroes. The core itself leves me cold no matter how I try. And Deadpool 1 was closer to it than expected.
Somehow I'm like these horrible people who order a pizza and only eat the crust. I guess.
