blakstar: Actually, I think that attitude's more of an internet thing from what I've seen over the years, and leads to extremely pointless arguments that neither side is going to win.
I dunno, it seems to vary by country for some reason.
The Australians are always the "wild cards" and just generally trying to stir up trouble and insult anybody they can.
The U.K.-ers always seem more ridiculously set in their ways and tend to talk down to you, expecting their arguments to stand on their own.
The Americans are the ones that use insults and expect those to act as a subsitute for reasonable arguments.

To summarize:
U.K. = Ignoring the other person means I'm right
America = Screaming the other person into submission means I'm right
Australia = Getting as many people to scream at me as possible means I'm right

Did you ever see The Phantom with Billy Zane? I personally like it.

OneFiercePuppy: They had those banners up all over the language school I went to >.> Just because you're getting higher education doesn't mean you can't be lowbrow about it ^_^
A lowbrow high education....heheh...heh...

OneFiercePuppy: you should appreciate why I didn't bother replying.
Actually, I thought it was more that people tend to speak 'about' others in the general forums, rather than 'to' them, much like this thread.

The amount of stereotyping that goes on has always amused me.

It usually seems to stem from the lack of understanding of various cultures, from what I've seen -- people making the assumption that what they've seen or heard on various media is the norm for the entire country.

I was actually referring to the radio show.

I've managed to listen to a number of those, thanks to the internet. Some were of such low quality that it's not possible to understand everything, but there are enough that are just fine.

Ok, fair enough. Why not this pulp book from 1939?

I'm an American. Erroneous and outlandish stereotyping isn't only my natural-born right, it's my patriotic duty.

Are you saying that and [url=http://satwcomic.com/]SATW aren't spot on? Well then where am I supposed to get my cultural education? Travel? Have you met the TSA?

Besides, stereotypes save a lot of time. Imagine if you had to learn about each person.
"Ok, now we'll be getting introduced to the 23 million Australians"
"Oh, for fuck's sake, I have to learn about each one of those cunts?"
"Ah, you've already taken the class, then?"

Pshaw. Next you're going to say something ridiculous, like your teeth are fine, or you don't actually have tea with every meal.

Flying Spaghetti Monster disapproves of wasted pasta. Be careful!
