blakstar: Fine by me :-)

However, I must admit I've always preferred Irish and *ahem*Bourbon*cough* to Scotch. Don't know why, but Scotch always seems a little too sweet for my palate.
Proper whisky snobs try to stab me in the blaspheming tastebuds, but my favorite whisky is a Japanese single-malt, the Yamazaki 18 year. I have one bottle for special occasions. For more casual sipping, I drink a blended, like a damned communist. But I like Crown.

I have appreciation for the complexities of your Speysides and Islays. I've spent a few grand on Taliskers and Glenfiddiches and Aberlours and Ardbegs - mostly as gifts for my brother, but I've tried a bunch of 'em. But for me, I'll take an easy-drinking whisky. Crown Royal; Blue Label; Yamazaki 18 or Hibiki 17.

Now, excuse me. I have to dodge angry (and empty) whisky glasses for a bit.
EDIT: Oh, and if you like bourbon and haven't tried Blanton's Single Barrel, you might want to add it to your "someday" list. It's a very good bourbon.

Actually, I wouldn't mind trying some Japanese whiskies -- unfortunately, I don't have a great international selection where I live, but I do enjoy sake and Japanese beer too.

How appropriate, you punch like a cow!

LootSeeker: So what happened on your date?

tinyE: My best guess, she popped a leak and deflated.

My favorite Simpsons character =)

EDIT: Always makes me think of this guy. Don't know if that's an intentional thing.

Hickory: Well since the English language has been around for hundreds of years before Germany was ever founded, no.

Your Geordie sucks.

TARFU: I think he was talking about this:

English is an Indo-European language, and belongs to the West Germanic group of the Germanic languages.[12] Most closely related to English are the Frisian languages, and English and Frisian form the Anglo-Frisian subgroup within West Germanic.
Unfortunately the Normans then conquered England. Far too many french words in English for being a Germanic language.
