$50k to develop something like STALKER? Yeah right... I'm pretty sure it takes a lot more money than that.

Also, I've never heard of West Games, and AFAIK most STALKER devs went on to make the Metro games at 4A Games.

Most of the comments talk about how its probably a scam. A lot of the artwork is supposed to be pulled from other sites.
A high-profile scam? Are those guys dumb?
Dwarvesssssss! And that says it all.

Story-driven real-time tactical action game about the three dwarven astronauts in the Stone Universe. Developing for PC and Mac.

The game is about a trio of dwarves in the Universe of the Eternal Stone. Depending on player's tactics, characters can either fight or hide from their enemies. The hostile creatures have real “senses”. They can hear you, they can see you, they can even track your scent. Our world has so many mysteries, that you just NEED to be part of it all.

Key Features:
Singleplayer control of one to three characters;
Real-time tactical combat in a unique fantasy setting;
Stealth or slasher mode - depending on player;
Active game pause and sequence of moves (stack of commands);
Environment interactions, natural traps, battlefield alteration.

Niggles: What concerns me is the whole tale isnt told with the base game and u need the DLC to get the complete story....thats my interpretation?
avatar
Rakuru: Yeah, the DLC chapters would supposedly be free, but I would still worry about them actually being able to finish all of the chapters and the storyline. It looks like their Kickstarter promises a new 3 - 6 hour chapter every 2 - 3 months, which also sounds like a very ambitious goal for a small indie team. They promise more than 20 additional chapters after the game's release, so even if they somehow manage to squeeze out one chapter every 3 months, that's a minimum of five years that the players would have to wait for the conclusion of the plot. For the dev team, it means five years or more spent working full-time or more on free content for their aging game while they could have just made a focused 30-hour game that's complete upfront and spent the rest of their time developing a sequel and having more freedom to actually improve and change the engine/gameplay.
Boy, I sure like the sounds / looks of that one. The art looks great. The story sounds good. DRM free with Linux support from the get go. I'm just not sure I can see it happening enough to back it.

First impression is that it looks interesting. Thanks for the link!
For My Brother:
"A story of becoming a monster to protect someone you love."

Based on what I've seen on the page, this seems to be a platform game that centres around the main character--the sister of the eponymous brother--taking on monstrous traits in order to traverse the world and combat its monsters; losing her humanity in order to save her brother.

I find the concept rather interesting, and the artwork is unusual and attractive to my eye (the latter is apparently inspired by the Insular style).

With the "Kickstarter Scam" thread in mind, towards the bottom of the page there is a simple layout of the intended use for the money raised.

The Pit and the Pendulum:
"Adventure game based on the classic works of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum". "

As the above quote indicates, this is, well, an adventure game inspired by the Edgar Allen Poe story "The Pit and the Pendulum", with a first half similar to the original story and a second half continuing the plot.

The artwork posted thus far looks rather impressive, and--while admitting that I'm not greatly familiar with Poe's work beyond popcultural osmosis (I think that I've read one or two of his stories)--quite fitting to the dark, macabre, slightly grotesque tone that I associate with Poe.

It seems really interesting to me as well, they have a really ambitious goal though and It seems unlikely that they will reach it.

IAmSinistar: I like what they have so far. Looks influenced by Mass Effect as well, specifically in starting with a protagonist of either gender, two hot human crewmates of each gender, and a hot blue alien crewmate.

Reever: Though it's surprising she has four arms instead of four boobs....:D
Should have four of each.
(I'm serious.)

Mrstarker: Not only people in the comments -- a dev from Vostok Games (former STALKER devs) said this:

We have contacted GSC's lawyers regarding this fraudulent claim of being the developers of Stalker and Metro Last Light. Please do all you can do ensure people know these claims are false.
avatar
Mrstarker:
So the techies' Stalker involvement claims are as real as their writer's spetsnaz past? Why am I not surprised.

Without knowing their starting date (I don't seem to be finding it anywhere) it's hard to evaluate their donation track record thus far; as of time of writing they have a little over ten percent of their goal, with twenty-four days yet to go, and their earliest update was about eight days ago, I believe.

So... It seems that if they do manage to reach their goal it'll likely be close. :/

The default time slots on KS are 30 days and 45 days. Being optimistic, that means they've raised 10% of their goal in 20% of their time. Unfortunately, the beginning of a campaign is usually the fastest period of funding growth, with a long period of stagnation in the middle before another rally at the end. I don't really see this making it. :/

Tekkaman-James: Move over Goat Simulator! There's a new kit in town!

Catlateral Damage! The game that lets you tap into your inner cat and catch mice, chase red lasers, sleep in boxes and knock valuable possessions off of counters and shelves while your owner is away.

I have no idea why I find this idea compelling, but their donation tiers are very modest and the game could really be the next meaningless animal simulator that the world never knew they wanted. Let's make this happen!
Just thought I would update everyone on this silly project I have taken a shine to. They are funded! With 14 days to go, it's now time to reach some of their awesome stretch goals. Let's take it to the top!
New theme music for interfaith voices radio
A wonderful independent radio station that I (as an atheist) really like to listen. :-) And now they want to record a new theme song.

Eh, that last push can sometimes be quite impressive.

... A guy can hope, can't he? ^^;
