Forget walking the plank, it's NOT supposed to be something you enjoy.
Perhaps just a 72 hour recording of the Partridge Family.

EndreWhiteMane: I am rather holding a grudge about that aren't I? That's unusual for me but that kind of thing, without any notice from GOG strikes me as pretty underhanded.
I agree. I understand them not wanting to upset the developer in case they leave and take all their games with them, but a word from a Blue about it would have been nice. I wonder if people are able to get a refund? I would be angry if I bought it before realising it was just half a game. But would GOG refund you after you download it? Their money back guarantee doesn't mention games that are falsely advertised.

CarrionCrow: In the midst of all that, I'll keep on making my casket a little bit cushier, diversion by diversion. ;)

EndreWhiteMane: So what game is on tap in that casket of yours tonight Crowbi Wan? ;)
Right now, it's continuing Bastion, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (needed a second to even remember the title, that one's leaving such an impression), slogging my way through Anomaly 2 so I can start the final push to clearing the series, more of Nihilumbra, and starting a replay of Dawn of War 2 so I can do the Chaos run of Chaos Rising, leading to the 6 runs of Retribution needed to call that entire series dead.

And some more Super Meat Boy in between since I'm continuing to make glacial-speed progress in 100 percenting that one.
Two godsdamned hours to find a single bandage. I looked, and I looked, and I looked.

Know where it was? There's a level where there's a wall of spinning blades coming at you. You have to outrun them, make the jumps, clear the stage before they hit.
In that wall, I finally noticed a tiny gap, just large enough to jump through.
Fucking bandage was on the other side of the blade wall.

Such a love/hate relationship with that game...

How about you? =)

CarrionCrow: But the industry keeps growing, so the same old thing will be the dominant attitude. It's going to take GOG years of continued growth to eventually be able to stand toe to toe with the competition.
Do you think GOG will last that long? I feel that the more they compromise their quality of service (such as the quality of the games they accept, the quality of their customer service (which is getting worse), their lack of communication on the forum over matters, such as the Caribbean game), the less respect they will get and the more valued customers will leave. Yes they may attract more Steam customers, but as GOG's quality slips, they will just go back to Steam, where games are often a lot cheaper.

You did have a tricky role, especially for your first game. I think you held your own pretty well, you just need a bit more practice :)
I spend a few nights (game nights) talking with Flub about different combinations. But each one could easily damage Town. It's a shame I was not Scum, then I could have had some fun with it all. :-)

Yeah, that was part of the reason I knew you couldn't be scum as if you were the whole game should have been a complete mess with redirection :)
I so wanted to use my power (stop the lynch) to save RWarehall day 1... mainly for badness but I decided against it.

I've been taking my hostilities out on the snow today mostly. :-)
Been playing a couple of little indies call Morningstar and Pioneers Beta.
Sunless Sea later on if I'm awake.

I enjoyed the no-flip aspect, especially seeing several players sulk over it :-). Compared to that a flip game should be a lot easier to find out who it telling the truth and who is lying (at least theoretically). Do you think it would be nice to have more no-flip games? Maybe one for every two or three normal games?

I honestly don't know. Their selection process is definitely slipping at times, and they really need to get more staff to cover support problems.
Hopefully the expansion to a U.S.-based office will give them access to the resources they're not getting in Poland.

As long as it's DRM-free, I'll be around. Kinda fond of actually owning what I pay for.

Will there be bumps in the road? Absolutely. They're having one right now, getting to deal with a region ban, and there will be a lot more as Galaxy gets closer to implementation.

I'll be hedging my video game bets with a console purchase by the end of the year, if not a whole lot sooner.

Combine that with getting my wishlist to zero by the end of the year as well, and I'll be able to say I'm up to date for picking GOG's catalog down to the bone.

Region locks don't affect me, and neither do regional prices. I don't agree with them, but my say means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Needless to say, I'll be keeping my items up to date and backed up, just in case. ;)

If you get bored and want something to make your brain hurt, check online for an item called Fool's Errand.

It's an old, massive puzzle game that's freeware straight from the creator.

I liked it. The flips make everything a bit clearer (you know who has been lying, and what they have lied about) but I think it's more of a challenge with no flips. With flips role claims can easily break the game, as once you claim and die your role is confirmed whereas if we had lynched yogs in the last game we would never have known whether he was who he said he was and whether his reads were accurate.
I'd be tempted to go for flips on alignment but not on role, but even then if you flip scum then any claims about your role you made would be unlikely to be believed, and if you flip town your claim and reads will be believed.
So maybe the reverse, you know the role but not the alignment... It's hard to get the balance right I think and make it fun and fair for everyone.

Don't get me wrong, I hope GOG continues to prosper and hopefully one day can really challenge the competition. I like the company, and I love the people here. But I am so used to companies that used to be so good, just turn bad. The games industry is full of such companies, developers who used to value their customers, have values, produce wonderful and complete games, now all forgotten in the name of milking more money from the once valued customer.

You never know. I'd say, based on GOG's response during the regional pricing crap, that they know they have to maintain the DRM-free stance. It's the one thing ultimately that separates them from the competition.
If they give that up, they'll either shut down or be consumed and mutated into a Steam key reseller.

Either way, GOG as an actual company would be done at that point.

Aside from that, though? I won't be surprised to see more DLC, more pre-order stuff, the kinds of money-grubbing tactics that developers and publishers use these days to make more money off the customers.

Course, on the other side of the coin, I fully expect to see more people acting like GOG set their house on fire after punching their mother when GOG has to implement certain things that are the status quo in the industry, like regional pricing, or even when they implement things that aren't somehow bad, like a totally optional client.

There will still be people screaming their heads off about it.

I know what you mean, but I kind of hope GoG turns out to be different. The low quality games and day 1 DLC is a bit worrying, but I think a lot of the other stuff (bugs, slow service) is just down to being understaffed as they are growing too quickly.. if you look at all the big deals and new games we've had in the last few months, plus the work on Galaxy and everything else they are doing it's no wonder some things are falling by the wayside.
And while they've been advertising for new positions it doesn't look like many have been filled...
Well I had better call it a night. I am actually tired for the first time in a few days and I should really try to get some sleep. Especially as I have a busy day tomorrow, or rather later today. :-)

I hope you all have a good night!

*hugs for the huggers, waves for the anti-huggers, and Tea for the Tillerman* (My brother was watching Extras earlier today and I have that song stuck in my head.)
Tomorrow is the listed release date for Repulique Remastered.
