CarrionCrow: Good evening. =)

Not doing too badly here, have been trying to clear the board a bit before Hotline Miami 2 comes out.
Now that I think about it, might end up with Pillars of Eternity as well. Not quite sure. It won't be cheap, but I like RPG's and need to find a horse I'm willing to back since I kinda hate Bethesda and Bioware these days.

Aside from that, some housework, some errands, nothing exciting.
I am not a big fan of the Hotline Miami games. I have the first one on my shelf from the Mutator promo and it's the only game I have not downloaded. It just doesn't seem like my kind of game. But I am glad you like them and are looking forward to the second one. It's just a shame about the Australia thing and the pre-order exclusives. GOG is definitely on a slippery slope these days, especially with our first day 1 DLC.

Arrrrr. ;)

EBToriginal: That just sounds kinky, is here rope involved?
Just the wrists and the one holding the big rock to your feet. :-)

Normally I don't do pre-orders, but it's a company I actually want to back and a game I'm actually looking forward to, so I figure I will this time around.

I know they have a special edition upgrade thing, but I didn't know there were pre-order exclusives.

The situation overall doesn't surprise me, GOG's not the big player in the industry. Ultimately, the customers will have to make the garbage go away by not buying it.

Kinda doubting that's going to happen any time soon. When someone really tries to screw everyone over like EA, or the Evolve crap where there's a hundred dollars of DLC available at launch, then people notice.

But otherwise? It's pretty much business as usual. People are willing, so companies keep shoveling the shit out.

Well breathplay isn't usually a first night kinda thing.

Don't forget what is in essence our first 'early access' game. :/

I once had a partner who asked if I would be their first victim.

I may be mistaking this pre-order for another one, I have not had much sleep the last few days. But I know some have been having pre-order exclusives lately.

Do you see people not paying? That's what gamers hoped when DRM first came out. They expected fellow gamers to vote with their wallets. But here we are, an industry dominated by DRM and underhanded tactics, all becasue people keep paying developers and publishers who do these bad practices.

But I guess I'm just in a cynical mood this evening, so pay me no heed. :-)

'Victim' has such an endearing ring to it. Not sure I'd want to be the 'practice dummy' though.

I am rather holding a grudge about that aren't I? That's unusual for me but that kind of thing, without any notice from GOG strikes me as pretty underhanded.

Yeah, but I have some awesome stories to tell now, some awesome scars to show off, and some sexy videos that are most likely illegal in most the world.

Of all the people you might have to worry about being cynical around? I'm not one of them. ;)

The system is bloated. Tens of millions of dollars to make a game, market it, convince people they can't live without it. They'll make the money back by drip-feeding content to people who don't stop to notice that it should have been theirs to begin with.

And no, the setup isn't anywhere near its breaking point yet.
Well, not for the big companies, anyway.
DRM is prevalent, people spend money for games they don't own, and the market is so flooded now that people have tons of games they never even play.
It's just an urge to acquire, and all sides play on it, GOG included.

But the industry keeps growing, so the same old thing will be the dominant attitude. It's going to take GOG years of continued growth to eventually be able to stand toe to toe with the competition.

In the midst of all that, I'll keep on making my casket a little bit cushier, diversion by diversion. ;)

Sorry if I'm a wimp but I'll stick with bored and un-wounded.

That's a hell of a lot of missing information for a game's current state and future, that's for sure.

One or two things is understandable. But an entire list of them? Not good.

It Was rather fun, and he only really got in to the dermis on me anyway. I've ended up healing more than I wanted, mostly due to being lazy about the salt and petroleum jelly.
avatar
adaliabooks: You survived to the end, that's not bad :)
I think you did just fine, it takes a while to get into it I think.
That was my third, two town wins and one scum loss so far. It's a lot of fun, but I tend to "Go full town" as it was put and make myself a NK target too early... must keep a handle on that next game XD
avatar
ddickinson: Me winning was just dumb luck. I was originally going to stop with the game and let everyone else have fun, but Flub talked me into playing the next one. Hopefully I will be able to do a better job. My role this time was really complicated. There was so much I could do to help Town, but then at the same time it could damage Town. The only way to be sure to not case any problems for Town would be to announce what I was going to do, which would just make it all irrelevant.
Don't beat yourself up :)
You did have a tricky role, especially for your first game. I think you held your own pretty well, you just need a bit more practice :)
