Good evening Endre :)
Remember not long ago someone on the thread thought that was for real? :-)

Honestly, it's so beautifully done I could easily see it fooling someone.

Yes it's a fantastic April's Fool joke...compared to that all the recent jokes by any of our public television stations were just dumb...

ElTerprise: Right. You're using a Mac otherwise if i'm not mistaken...
But that's exactly the point ...aside from gaming and some other Windows-only apllications (we had real problems converting of dictaphone files in Copenhagen with only Mac and Linux ^^) i don't need it...

Well i guess that Linux Mint and/or Ubuntu might be considered user-friendly - those were at least the distributions that got me into Linux. Currently i'm using the papa of both, Debian. The main problem might be the sheer variety of Linux distributions with different target audiences and attitude in terms of free software.
I am. And yes, I know they are overpriced. And I agree, but I was given this computer, so I don't mind. :-)
I prefer the Mac OS to be honest, it does what I need and I like it. I know not everyone does, and that is fine, that is why we have different OSs to cater to different users. I tend to boot into Windows 7 though for gaming, as more games support Windows and many run better.

But you are not the average user. I know what you mean, but many still find Linux too complicated. Installing or uninstall applications on Linux vs Windows, for example, can be quite different for some users. But I am not that up on Linux, so maybe I am just speaking nonsense. :-)

They are also an edible snack. :-)

I didn't want so say anything about that :)
I can see the appeal of the Mac OS - nothing for me though (without having much experience with it to be honest)....agreed. That's what makes the PC great. The option of choice.

Yes i understand what you mean but i think a lot of that comes down to prejudice. They have the image of having to use the command line every time and whatnot (and honestly i appreciate the command line). I mean i needed more adjustments via PowerShell and Registry for Windows 10 than i needed for Linux - but i guess it depends immensely on the hardware someones uses. Some hardware works better with Linux than other...

The OS is good, but they really need to stop overcharging for their hardware, the computers and the mobile devices. The company as a while has gone down hill since the iPhone took off and Steve Jobs took a back step due to his health and the after he died it just kept getting worse with their attitude to their customers and things. But while many like to insult them, there is a reason why many companies use them. I will never understand all the fan boy stuff out there. Seriously, I don't get it. Such hostility and resentment over someone liking something someone else does not (and I mean in general, not just OSs), the smug arrogance, and all the defending of one company as though that was your company, when you are just a faceless number to them. I blame ELT. :-)

That is probably it. Perhaps they need to show people Linux is not just the terminal, that it is more than that and more user friendly. But then do they need to? Windows has been driving customers away these last few years, which is probably why the number of people using Linux is increasing. So maybe a great time for Linux, Microsoft drives them away with how they operate, Apple prices themselves out of the market for many people, and that leaves the open source Linux. I guess as long as MS keeps agreeing with manufacturers to put Windows on most devices then people will just stick with that.

Well as long as people are buying overpriced Apple stuff i don't think they'll change that. Well i guess it's fanboyism of both sides...which cemented those hostilities which is ridiculous...and i don't give a shit about those fanboys...
Would i buy Apple products if they were cheaper? Maybe....

Exactly. But i guess the diversity among the distributions is also quite overwhelming...
It's one of the best times for non-Windows OSs with the current developments around W10....
Yes having Windows pre-installed, combined with the general laziness of people is on the major advantages of Windows...

Well it was really great chatting with you but it's close to 2am here and i'm pretty tired now. Think i'm going to sleep now. I wish you a good night *big good night hugs*

I think I will be calling it a night as well. Goodnight, Endre Penguin Master, and ELT the Plague Lord. Take care and have a lovely rest of the day. :-)

Sounds like a plan. Trying to finish off season 2 of True Detective, then I'll be playing again as well.
