I think you will find they did. The biplane I flew today was a model that served in the Second World War, the Tiger Moth (although I think the plane I flew in was a bit younger than 1930's but she was still an old girl). There are also aircraft like the Gloster Gladiator and others who saw active services - the Gladiator saw service in the Battle of Britain as well as other places.Edit: Hey, wait a minute, they didn't use biplanes in WW2!
