Stilton: Woo, so what happened?
I am still working on it :P
It is a lot of work and I need the right motivation and a lot of time since I prefer working on it in big chunks.
Good Moonday everyone!

I hope you are all doing well and have had a nice weekend?

Hi, DD :-)

Nice to see you! How are you today?

My weekend was good, some gaming, some TV, lots of downloading (my library will be complete today), all of it quite pleasant.

How was yours?

Good day, Mr Viking!

I am doing okay, been better, but doing okay. I am hoping to be getting my text and scan results back this week, and hoping there is some sign of improvement. And next week me and my partner are off for a little vacation, starting off with a visit to the coast down your neck of the woods (Southern England), so I am looking forward to that.

I am glad to hear you are doing good, and that your epic battle with Grendel the game downloading monster is almost complete. I hope you and your family are all doing as well as can be expected?

My weekend was very nice, thank you. I spend much of Saturday helping my partner with her rehearsals, then just a relaxing evening and a relaxing Sunday. I still can't do much at the moment, but spending the time together is great no matter what we do.

*big Viking hug*

Good morning, ELT! *return hug*

Glad to hear you are doing good and that you had a good weekend. What was your seminar about, and how are you feeling, is your cold all gone?

I am doing okay, thank you. (See my reply to Stilton for a little more information.)

Thank you. My cold is nearly gone :)
The seminar is (there will be more dates) about transdisciplinary work (in that case between Geography, Psychology, Economic Sciences and Educational Sciences) about sustainability and the goal is to produce a small video for the newly-created Hamburg Open Online University)

Well at least you're doing okay - i always hope for more though :)
The small vacation sounds lovely - hope you'll really enjoy that :)

That'll be nice, there's lots of lovely coast down this way. Where will you be going? Devon, Dorset, Cornwall? Maybe Wales? Sussex? I haven't been to the coast in ages. We used to go down to Dorset quite a lot, but that hasn't happened in a while. Our routines have changed a bit since then. This time of year is preferable because fewer people go to the seaside and the schools are in. You should have some reasonable peace and quiet :-) Plenty of pubs and coffee shops to get cozy and snug, too. I envy you :-)

I ought to head north and see your neck of the woods. I haven't seen the Lake District yet, nor further up and into Scotland. We're so lucky to have such a lot on our doorstep in Britain. If you can fit in a trip to Wales its worth seeing - parts of it are beautiful.

That is great to hear, fingers crossed it goes for good this time.

So you seminar was about… taking over the world under the guise of sustainability? :-)

If I take out the health stuff and the lack of sleep and things then I would have to say I am doing wonderfully great. Is that any better? :-)

I am sure I will enjoy the vacation. I doubt will be up to much, but I am sure we will still have a great time. We don't really have anything planned, a few days at the cost (maybe longer if we are enjoying ourselves), then we will just go where the mood takes us.

I know, but the locals are just so weird, they still dress like Vikings and everything. :-)
We will probably be starting in Cornwall, but we are not too sure yet. It is more of a spontaneous vacation, just going where the mood takes us and hopefully I will be able to keep up. I fancy paying a visit to the Eden Project while we are down there, and maybe some other places like that. I doubt the weather will be up to any nice time on the beach, but you never know with our weather, we get hot days out of the blue during winter. We figured this time of year would be nice and quiet, plus it is kind of a celebration thing as well, mainly a birthday thing as my partner's birthday is in the first half of November, plus it was on the 30th of this month last year that I proposed to my partner, so we are kind of being silly and celebrating that as well.

The Lake District is beautiful, as is much of Northern England, in fact Britain in general has lots of lovely places, they are just not really highlighted much, which is a shame. I have been to Northern Whales a few time, the last time was to a place called Flint, with a very unique castle modelled after a french design, and a very rare design to be using in Britain (did you know that Wales is technically England, due to William I and then later Henry VIII?). It was build under the order of King Edward I, as with many castles in Whales. Conwy has a lovely castle as well, which is quite near Flint.

Thanks...

You're thinking far too specific ;).....it's unwise to do the second step first :P
No we're actually working on certain topics connected to sustainability ... one could see it as suggestions for a sustainable future :).
The team i'm in is working on post-growth economy for example (which is actually quite tough for the students of economic sciences in the team ;) )

That is definitelly better :D

Well but even that sounds great - who says that one has to do much on vacation. Being at a nice place and enjoy the stay can be enough :)

The thing is, you Germans are so untrustworthy, just look at what you are doing with the EU? How can we not suspect you of doing sinister things while pretending it is something else? :-)

But on a serious note, I hope you are enjoying it all? It sounds very interesting, and a little complex. I guess after you have that mastered then you begin the invasion. Will you at least leave the GOG HQ standing this time when you re-invade Poland? :-)

It should be quite nice, we will be enjoying the sights, seeing some lovely places (like museums, maybe see some shows (ballet definitely for my partner, and who knows what else), and anything else that catches our eye. We don't go to the south of England often, so it can be quite fun. We just have to be careful of those soft Southern Vikings that fill the lands down there. I hear they wear mighty cardboard horns on their helmets. :-)

Cornwall is lovely, so you're starting in one of the nicest places. The landscape is very distinctive there and the coast has some real treasures. Spontaneous is the best way to do it, just follow your noses and see where you end up.

So you're with a Scorpio - they can be a bit of a handful! I'm one as well, so I should know:-) It sounds like your partner's birthday is around the same time as mine. A combined birthday and anniversary will make it all the more special.

It could be tricky telling the welsh their country is really ours (but its nice to know anyway) :-)

I am sure it will be a lot of fun, even if we just end up spending most of our time in the hotel room, it will still be a nice break. I find that as long as you are with someone you are crazy about then it doesn't matter what you do, the time spent together is wonderful no matter what.

She puts up with me, and I am much more of a handful :-). My brothers actually got her a medal made one year for that, awarded to a great maiden for conquering me and keeping me under control. Just some silly thing but it was fu. But in reality she is probably the only one who can wrap me around her finger and who I will listen to no matter what, much like I can with her. My brothers and father try, but I think I am too much like my mother and quite the handful normally. Not in a bad way, I am just a bit of a free spirit as it where, I guess growing up in the great outdoors and been very independent from a young age can do that to a girl. :-)

So your birthday is coming up soon. You are aware of our birthday tradition on the thread? You will have to have a think about taking part.

Why do you think Wales is not on the Union Flag? But Wales has never really been treated as part of England, and for the most part she has kept her own status despite the legal aspects.
