Oh dear, I just got to know, that half of my (still living) family is completely immersed in a not so nice sect, which explains one suicide attempt and regular change of appartments of the mother of my niece and nephews (she didn't want her children to grow up like this and now they are with him...) as well as their bad shape and nearly zero contact to the rest of the world. It's the Twelve Tribes. :(

CarrionCrow: ...
That one also looks interesting, but since I have a massive rage-generating problem with NPC's that behave like five year olds with fresh head trauma, I'll probably wait to see how well the squad mechanics work.

GhostwriterDoF: It is a good game, though it doesn’t really feel like a Star Wars theme.
It is not easy, but not too hard, using your team is necessary if you are going to survive.

The action is good, the weapons are effective, the enemy is plenty,
and most are easily dispatched though their numbers pose a threat,
but there are harder enemies that the whole team has to concentrate on to kill.

The team AI is good, they don’t run in front of you, use cover fairly well,
and the command system is simple yet effective.

Many of the commands are maneuvers that are scripted into the level,
at certain spots, you can have you team members snipe, or toss grenades,
and each team member has specialized skills that they can do,
such as plant explosives, hack terminals or open locked doors,
sometimes whilst under fire.

The team AI also have dialogs they call out, which isn’t annoying,
making observations about your performance as the commander,
and at one point they even told me when I was going in the wrong direction ,
from the current objective.

Most important, I was able to remap the keys very easily (whilst in-game, too),
so it performs much like the modern shooters I'm used to. :D
Okay. In that case, I can add that one to my list with the other 170 or so. -laughs-

Thank you very much for taking the time to let me know. It's much appreciated. =)

Ohhhhh, boy...

Did a fast read on Wikipedia and it screams nutjob cult. I'm sorry you've got relatives in the midst of that.

Thank you :)

Just been playing Lords of Xulima, I like it so far. A little tough, but doesn't seem too bad. The food thing is annoying but fair, I much prefer seeing how long I've got before I need to restock as opposed to a roguelike where hunger is just sprung upon you.
I think it's going to be good :)

I have to ask - what's your difficulty level and party composition?

I figured others in this thread would be interested to know as well too.

It's always nice to have a game turn out better than expected, than just what you were expecting.

The children are completely imprisoned in this cult and are not allowed to have any friends outside, daily routine is arranged up to ridiculous detail, talents are left dormant and weaknesses are trained all the time etc... that's basically what he did to them from the moment of their birth and either he found people that are as nuts as himself or it's been going on for a very long time now. I just got to know, that he pulled one of my other brothers in there too, I knew that his wife tried to cimmit suicide because of him treating the kids like shit and forbidding her any parentyl influence, but now a bit more makes sense too... like him mentioning a woman 10 years ago who has to have been a missionary back then already who is in total control of the children now.
Of course when a mother tries to commit suicide in Germany, the children are going to the father and he can persuade most people that everything is fine with him... :/

Good luck to you in regards to giving it another shot later.

If you want full completion, you'll be chucking over 100 hours at that one, and more than a few of those hours will be nothing more than organizing inventory.

Still needs quite a bit of work and tweaky, but looking pretty world like already. What do you think?
The map looks like a huge area, (world). Are you making a strategy type game?

That's alright, just wanted to see if it would run okay or not...

moonshineshadow: Yep :-) Feeling quite good today. And yes bill paying days can be a tad annoying :D Are you at least a Star Wars fan so that the releases today make you happy?
avatar
HypersomniacLive: I fear you're not paying close enough attention.
Does that sound like I'm a Star Wars fan? Out of the whole batch (how many are there now?), the only ones that interest me are the two RPGs (and already have KOTOR I, thanks to budejovice' sneakiness - cheers, buddy!) and to a smaller degree the Strategy ones.

But with bills piling up, and some financial 'surprises', as Endre put it, I'm not getting any of them now.
Which also means that I'm kind of relieved about the delay of the Adventure games, as they'd have to go on the Wishlist anyway.

Did you get Grim Fandango?
Yep you are right, I was not really paying attention these last days. Normally I remember things very well but once I get sick I can't remember things. That was really annoying during he time I was studying :D
Yep I gog Grim Fandango, just as a backup since my old computer is giving me trouble and that is the one LA adventure I can't easily run on the newer system.

I believe I went for the lowest difficulty (based on what you had said, plus I'd rather enjoy the game then get frustrated and quit), so that's probably it. I may have chosen the middle one but I can't remember, I'll check next time I play.
As for party composition, I went with Arcane Soldier (bit rubbish), Soldier, Cleric, Bard & Barbarian. Seems to work well so far but I've only just gained my first level up.

That's the plan. Grand strategy / 4x type thing with some extra bits. Very ambitious I know, but what the hell :)

You should try to put in a condition in the map making process for the major water ways (oceans)
to all be connected, especially if you plan on having naval forces. Perhaps even make a distinction
between oceans and inland bodies of water. lakes and possibly rivers as well connecting them to the
oceans.

That way your world generator can have defined continents and a more realistic looking world, if at all possible.
