ElTerprise: Thanks for the info. Definitely looks interesting. And fair from i've seen. Aside from one mech variant they don't lock away anything from non-backers....
How are you *return hug* ?
Doing quite well. Even though I had quite the nightmare,I dreamt that I killed my whole family and let's just say that I woke up really scared since that's the last thing I would do to them,I cringe to the fact that I might accidentaly hurt them much less on purpose.
Yay, it's errand time. Back in a bit.
Speaking of OS's... One of my computers is finally making me want to open the disc drive and insert a bunch of lit matches. Time to format this plucker ,',',',):-\
Hi !!!

CarrionCrow: It's a paint job and a model type. Here's the thing about the Atlas - its distinctive feature is that the head looks like a human skull. That won't get messed with, so any variation will be slight.
See. That's what i meant. It's a really fair Kickstarter then.

Glad to hear that although that nightmare sounds terrifying...understandable that you woke up scared.

Greetings!
How's everyone ?
I can't make new threads again (it seems to come and go regularly).

Anyway, I'll post here:

Varying Speed of Light v Inflation
---------------------------------------------

I only just heard about this, didn't believe it, and did some Wikipedia research. Has anyone else studied Varying Speed of Light Theory in school? We were only presented with Inflation, which has a few astronomical* holes in it. I took inflation as the best (and only) option, but from what I'm reading, I like VSL far better.

Here's a link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_speed_of_light

If I'm reading correctly, this guy ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo%C3%A3o_Magueijo ) came up with it using pure mathematics. I found that to be fascinating.

Anyhoots, wondered what some of you armchair physics buffs thought. I'm physics-smart, but not reddit physics people smart. :)

*pun intended. Namely, reversing entropy in a closed system requires another system, which may or may not have existed.

Quite good. How are you?

Yes, cosmetic changes are offered but none of the "if you don't back, you'll never get access to such-and-such content" bullshit.

Also, liking quite a bit that the first two questions covered on the FAQ are, "What platforms will be available?" and "Will it be DRM-free?"

Yep. I hate it when developers on Kickstarter do that. Really appreciate that Harebrained doesn't do that. Didn't follow the Shadowrun Kickstarters but i assume they did it similar there...

I don't remember seeing anything like that. For Hong Kong, the addition of two extra main characters were stretch goals, but once they were met, the content became available to everyone who bought the game, backer or not, pre-order or not.

Additional - Pleasantly surprised by my brain dredging up old stats for Mech designs from books I haven't read in years. Apparently my memory still works pretty well, but only in regards to things I give a crap about. -laughs-

Exactly how it should be imho. Also the way Inxile did it with Wasteland 2 by offering the loads of goodies in a deluxe edition is fine - even if that means that edition might be a bit pricey...

Agreed. They can charge what they want and let the customer decide whether or not it's worth it. Withholding the option regardless is a bad idea.

Exactly Plus they might hurt themselves in the long run with withholding stuff. People might remember that. And they could also make a bit more money on selling the extras.
But it's also true that those plans need to be properly disclosed to Backers as well.

CarrionCrow: Battletech Kickstarter is up. They've gotten close to 300,000 dollars in less than 75 minutes.
I just looked at their promo - its clearly a game for men with beards.

I'm interested....
