Stilton: I'm still surprisingly comforted (if that word can be used in conjunction with any Microsoft product) by both how well XP handles games and just how many games work on it. It makes absolute sense to have an XP machine to guarantee continued pain free access to a large chunk (investment) of games. But things is moving on, so a Win7 machine is also sensible. I haven't decided whether to update to 10 yet - its probably prudent to wait a while longer and see if any major problems come to light. XP and 7 are a very useful combo, though, and should keep me happy for some time yet.
XP is the go-to for all finicky titles on GOG that won't work with later versions. Would say the best possible combo is one machine with that, and one with 7. Vista and 8 are both crap. Also not touching 10 after the mess they made out of 8. I have no desire for my stockpile to have more compatibility problems because the morons screwed everything up and made it worse.

ElTerprise: still haven't finished A Game of Thrones....
If you ever want to finish that, this would mean Martin would start writing more and finally get to an end with the series. Something I doubt will ever happen ;-)

(And it is called "A Song of Ice and Fire" ... damn TV series...)

superstande: Do you know if the rumour I read is happening next month, that netflix is abandoning some of its movie content?
I'm not sure if it's global or if it's really gonna happen...
From what I read, they're losing a bunch of stuff because a large company that holds quite a few movie and television licenses is choosing to work with Hulu instead.
Welp, I decided to uninstall Broken Age, and it basically told me to fuck off.

It annoys me when these things happen.

Sounds like that's gonna be this decade's real format war.

HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray ended up with the winner being an incontinent weelchair bound elderly man.

Netflix has pretty much won already though.

Edit: The first actual rain after summer.

It depends on who can get the most items and still turn a profit. It started with Netflix, but now Hulu and Amazon Prime are viable alternatives. If Netflix gets complacent, their competitors will take their content away.

I know...you might have overlooked the fancy abbreviation i used:

Guess i might return to ASoIaF (as in A Song of Ice and Fire) when i'm done with Dune....still haven't finished A Game of Thrones....
I was talking about the first book ;) (Only watched a couple of episodes of season 1 of GOT thus far)
But yes you're right - doesn't look to promising on Martin actually finishing the series. But i would be happy to get at least to the most recent one :).

Yeah man, I came late to the party just before the release of the fifth book, but I already feel like I've been waiting ages for the sixth ...

I'd like to think that VHS vs Betamax actually taught a lesson and that people are not that stupid, but that's an idealistic thought. Also unlike that case, there's not that much commitment to one single format/platform, There's not the same kind of cheddar involved.

Blu-ray was already dead before the smoke set. They both got gangbanged by the internet.

Edit: Nope, false alarm, still pretty much a summer shower.

Hurray for hugs!
Battletech Kickstarter is up. They've gotten close to 300,000 dollars in less than 75 minutes.

Thanks for the info. Definitely looks interesting. And fair from i've seen. Aside from one mech variant they don't lock away anything from non-backers....

It's a paint job and a model type. Here's the thing about the Atlas - its distinctive feature is that the head looks like a human skull. That won't get messed with, so any variation will be slight.
