gunsynd: Well with bugs and this sort of a thing,it wouldn't be going on if I owned the business..

moonshineshadow: Might not be gogs fault, it got pulled from steam too.
It's the lack of communication that bugs me.
I don't expect GOG to leave themselves open to some kind of legal action by keeping a game up when they aren't supposed to, but I'm looking at it like this -

It's a weekday. It's not a holiday. There's no mention at all of it being pulled by anyone official.

GOG has a really shitty habit of not communicating with customers a fair bit of the time.

It does suck when games get removed like this, but I suppose it's possibly GoG didn't know till the last moment. Nothing would surprise me if they literally got an email today saying the game had to be down today (it's the kind of shit we deal with all the time, it's amazing how few business are run by people with any kind of professionalism).

That being said, GoG aren't known for being very forthcoming with info so who knows?

I'd never heard of the game before, what was it?
Russia's RosComNadzor (the censorship agency) announced they will be blocking Steam, and the result is epic. *popcorn*

HIghlights of the thread:
"r u high?"
"Better block your anus!"
"Poll: Where do you usually buy drugs? Steam -- Origin -- Torrents -- On DVD -- Cook them myself -- etc"
"GabeN 4 lyf"
"#WTFGABENSAVEUS"
"give yourself a holy water enema"
"how to kill yourself: [article]" (note: RCN bans mentions of suicide since they believe it causes suicide)
"20 reasons to smoke pot: [list of reasons]"
"hey ppl, go to Kazakhstan, we're like Russia except not skullfucked"
"block Origin instead!"

Horror-based adventure game. Hadn't heard of it before GOG, but it looked interesting. Had it on my list til it got wiped.

And yes, you're right, the people with the rights could've hit them at the last minute.
It's just annoying that no one could take five minutes and say,
"Hey, everyone. We're very sorry to have to announce this, but due to legal issues, we were forced to pull Scratches Director's Cut from the catalog.
We try our best to give our customers a chance to pick up such titles, but sometimes these things happen on the spur of the moment, so we were unable to put out a notice before we had to remove it.
Our apologies for any inconvenience this might cause.
We always want our loyal GOG customers to have every chance possible to pick up good DRM-free games with good prices.
As always, everyone who's already bought it will be able to download it, and we will of course do everything possible to make sure it's back here for people to check out and enjoy as soon as possible."

That's what, three or four minutes of typing stuff off the top of my head?
It's not hard.
Rule one - always assume that someone will be interested, even if the info seems like it pertains to some obscure game that no one gives a damn about.

Hell,we know Steam can be a bitch but to ban it from a whole country is going too far..
Censorship gone Mad..

With it also gone with no warning from Steam and no mention from the folks at GOG, I think it's possible it could return after whatever is going on is ironed out. No clue, but I wouldn't abandon all hope just yet.

But as Crow mentioned, lack of communication is pretty bad..

Enebias: For me, being evil in a videogame depends on what kind of act I am doing -and where that evil is directed.
I find being a bandit or threatening people pointless: they couldn't give me anyting useful anyway, besides their lives are already hard as they are. I can't say that I don't enjoy to "pacify" the crowd with a few stunning weapons every now and then, though... :P
Then, there are my targets... when dealing with them, I usually try to to make their existence as painful as possible, ruining them both financially, physically and psychically. I also have a disturbing predilection for games that let me terrorize the baddies and be a "clean" executioner (like Hitman, Dishonored, Mark of the Ninja and so on) or a gentleman thief (not very violent, but not really nice, either).
If Enebias does not like you... your world has just become a living hell! Time for retribution, villains! (15 minutes of evil laughther)
Haha, I suppose I can understand that, and I certainly don't feel bad myself about running over pedestrians in Saints Row. (I'm a terrible driver in video games ...) I don't really mind killing or assassinating people in video games, it's just that when a choice is offered to be either nice or evil, I can't seem to pick evil. I tried to do a Renegade playthrough of Mass Effect once and still ended up with 1/3 of the meter filled with Paragon points ...

I'm determined to do a darkside playthrough of KOTOR soon, though! I just need to find the willpower first.

Agreed. They might not have had any notice before having to pull it (and I can understand that), but some mention should be made by the team for sure. I don't think it was noticed until MaGog pulled a blank.

This is true, may not have had a chance to warn us and let people buy it, but they could certainly have told us it had happened and why...

Maybe they didn't want to mention it because they think it will come back soon... more likely just GoG being GoG...
Witcher 3 video is on twitch.

Hey Crow,
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_most_masochistic_games_of_2014
So, last fall I traded in my old beater for a new-to-me beater. Everyone made comments like "this will be so much better than your old car, the white won't show the dirt as bad" (My old car was black).

So far, this is really working out for me, you can hardly see the dirt O_o!
