Maybe you aren't cut out to be an asshole in real life too.

WTF is wrong with me!? I'm such an asshole in real life but I enter the game world and I can't do it. No matter what i try I can't be evil. Trying here to be a mega asshole in KOTOR 1 and I can't get off the ship without feeling worthless.

People like me give the Sith a bad name!

moonshineshadow: Normally there is some kind of warning before something is pulled. And since you are here on the forums a lot, you should be able to see any infos about games getting pulled soon enough to get them before :-)

CarrionCrow: True, but the Blade of Darkness thing reminded me that something can get pulled with almost no warning at all.
That went from here to gone within roughly 4 hours if I remember correctly.

Also, just to switch subjects for a sec - Just noticed that you have the Atlantis series. What do you think of that overall? Haven't played them, reviews tend to be less than great, but I'm still curious.
Seems like I owe you an apology... A game just disappeared without any warning... And I had just said that there normally is at least some warning...

That's extremely funny, I've been thinking of doing a Sith run when I finally get around to loading that up.

You can do it. Just picture yourself as a magical badass who's just itching for an excuse (which can mean anything up to and including "screw you, I felt like it") to cut people up, take their things and generally laugh like a maniac with your boot on the world's neck. =)

Son of a bitch. That was one I actually wanted but hadn't gotten around to grabbing yet.

No need to apologize, thank you for letting me know.

Just pretend you are playing GOG Forums: The Game ;-)

Sometimes I can be an asshole in games, and sometimes I can't. Depends on my mood, my current frustrations, the seasons...
I played Fallout 3 a few years ago. I blew up an entire town full of civilians and felt nothing. Good riddance.
I played it again a year later, and couldn't bring myself to shoot a mole rat.

FearfulSymmetry: I don't exactly claim to be an asshole in real life, but I've got the exact same problem when it comes to being evil in games. I just can't do it. I must have played through both KOTORs about ten times by now, and I've never yet been able to complete a darkside playthrough. It's terrible. KOTOR makes you feel especially bad about it too, such as when you enter an apartment and people beg you to just take their stuff and spare their lives.

Terrible. :P
For me, being evil in a videogame depends on what kind of act I am doing -and where that evil is directed.
I find being a bandit or threatening people pointless: they couldn't give me anyting useful anyway, besides their lives are already hard as they are. I can't say that I don't enjoy to "pacify" the crowd with a few stunning weapons every now and then, though... :P
Then, there are my targets... when dealing with them, I usually try to to make their existence as painful as possible, ruining them both financially, physically and psychically. I also have a disturbing predilection for games that let me terrorize the baddies and be a "clean" executioner (like Hitman, Dishonored, Mark of the Ninja and so on) or a gentleman thief (not very violent, but not really nice, either).
If Enebias does not like you... your world has just become a living hell! Time for retribution, villains! (15 minutes of evil laughther)

CarrionCrow: Sheesh...I knew it was short, but didn't remember it being that short.
But that's exactly what I was referring to. All it takes is a dispute, a license issue, any kind of problem, and a game can get pulled in no time.
Try this on for size; another game has been removed from the catalog and we didn't get any kind of warning.

Sometimes, yes. Other times, we get plenty of warning.

Well with bugs and this sort of a thing,it wouldn't be going on if I owned the business..

I saw, Moonshine mentioned it to me a bit ago, but thank you for showing me.

Couldn't have grabbed it at the moment even if they'd put out some kind of notification, but the lack of one in general doesn't exactly thrill me.
Can't really set up something to cover such things when you get absolutely zero notice beforehand.
