EndreWhiteMane: Is that responsibility, or ethics? As in help people, or make big money?
Oh i'm sorry. I overlooked that post.

What i meant that every scientist needs to be aware of the (political and ethical) impact their research can have and actively pursue . So it's probably both resposibility and ethics.

I based that on thoughts from Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker and it's quite difficult for me to translate and summarize them at this time of the day.

ddickinson: You are right, C&C 3 was just not right. It just did not feel like a continuation of the main C&C story. Like I said, they should just have had Nod use the crashed ship for new technology. GDI had it's global research and wealth, NOD has the alien tech. But I guess EA had other ideas for the game and wanted Aliens. Maybe they wanted it to be like StarCraft. :-)
It seemed so. That's why they needed three factions. But C&C is no Starcraft. Never was and never will be. And i like the idea of NOD using the alien tech.
Well EA seriously messed up the storyline. Not to mention Red Alert 3 (altough it was a fun game but i couldn't take it seriously. The water mechanics were interesting though) and Tiberian Twilight....

C&C 3 was the last C&C game I played (and Red Alert 2 the last from that universe), but I heard that C&C 4 was just appalling, with very cheap CGI. A very sad way for such a great series to end.

I think I will call it a night. Take care, everyone, and have a lovely evening!

Yes. I wish that EA would give the rights of the series to a developer who knows what to do with it. I never played Tiberian Twilight although i got it with the ulitmate collection, Red Alert 3 was my last C&C.

Night DD, sleep well.

EndreWhiteMane: I'm a bit concerned that the graphics aren't good enough to really see what your doing. Otherwise though it looks like a great game.
Yeah, the graphics aren't exactly cutting edge by any means.
Will have a better idea of how manageable it is when I pick it up.

Are there any games on GOG that you would say are similar to the C&C titles, and that are worth playing?

Well i haven't played them yet but i assume that the Earth games and also KKND might be C&C style RTS games.

Edit: But i'm looking foward to Grey Goo which is apparently coming to GOG. I heard about it in another thread atleast.

The graphics were about the only thing reviewers didn't like about it. It got high marks otherwise.
Sadly it was a financial flop due to the high production costs. Maybe I should save them and buy a copy. ;)

Thanks, I was gifted Earth 2150, I'll have to try it.
Yes Grey Goo looks great, a bit pricey but maybe a release discount?

Well they say better late than never, of course they probably never waited too long to jump out of the way of a speeding bus. ;)

You're welcome. Yes a release discount would be great. But apparently it's more of a 'might' come to GOG. My reading skills are deteriorating significantly...

Very true.

Hoping that another Night Dive rerelease from that studio means they're closer to getting a System Shock 1 rerelease. Bugs me that I never played that one.

Also, you might want to check out Act of War. Looked through the manual and got a serious Command and Conquer feeling from it, only it feels like a more complex version.

I watched the video from Super Bunnyhop on System Shock. That game seems to have horrible controls. But it would be nice nonetheless to have it here.

You're a bit young for your reading skills to be decreasing.
You're not doing well in University because you can't read. :-)
Are your studies mostly in German? That would explain a drop in English comprehension.
