ddickinson: I have never heard that before, nor I have I played the game. I actually own it, the original floppy disk version. But just never played it.
It's cool! very slow paced but cool

ElTerprise: Yes. The mouse is cute :)
C&C...now i'm thinking of Dr. Möbius :)
Well the Soundtrack is great.
I played the game a few months ago, with a resolution patch, and a fix to remove those annoying black lines from the videos. The maps are so bare, but the game was still lots of fun, and tried to be very serious, unlike the later EA variations.

Good evening, Mr Jones! :-)

Is there any hope that you will be feeling a bit better this evening?

If I remember correctly it has a whole 2 floppy disks, but I could be mistaken on that.

Went for a short drive and then took a nap, I feel a little better at the moment.
It may not last but I'll take what I can get. ;)
Nice to hear you had a good day.

I know - iirc the resolutions causes some problems with the first campaign maps as they were quite small.
From what i read Red Alert 2 wasn't planned that way by Westwood it turned out in the end. And they wanted to fix that with C&C 3 Incursion (or something like that) They never inteneded seperate universes. In the end Yuri should have been an henchman of Kane. And the first three gams were quite serious but from Red Alert 2 on it went downwards. I enjoyed Red Alert 2 though.

Do we all have to come over and cheer you up? We will do it, and we will walk all over your lawn. You know we will, it's not like this place is full of sane people. :-)

I am glad the drive and the nap have helped a little. I will continue to keep hoping that things will pick up for you soon.

I never had a problem, but then I did not set the resolution too high. 640 was just a little too small for me, I think I set it to 800 and it was perfect for me. Not a lot, but enough, and it prevented any glitches which would have occurred on bigger resolutions. Although I mod Tiberian Sun to be higher resolution than 800, but the graphics are better on that game.

The original Red Alert had connections to Kane, which was quite nice. Red Alert 2 is a good game, but the story was just so silly. I was never a big fan of Generals, and while Command and Conquer 3 started okay, the whole alien thing just ruined it for me. Units were too overpowered as well, especially the veteran level Mammoth tanks.

It's quite some time since i played the original C&C but i think i also didn't set the resolution too high. Lately i played a bit OpenRA which is quite nice.
Yes. Red Alert 2 was good and funny albeit very silly game. I liked Generals but it's not a real C&C game imho. Tiberium Wars was okay but i disliked that they pretty much ignored the more futuristic Tiberian Sun units and wen backwards to Tiberian Dawn. The Aliens did ruin the game to some degree. Iirc there had been an alien ship in TS before.

I missed the futuristic elements of C&C as well. Tiberian Sun was quite nice with it's whole post-apocolyptic type world. It was dark and dirty, while C&C 3 was all clean looking, if that makes sense. There was an alien ship in Tiberian Sun, but I just felt the way they handled it all in C&C 3 was just very poor. They should have just kept it as Nod using the crashed ship to develop new technology like on Tiberian Sun, not have a big alien invasion and a horrible storyline. I loved the Mammoth Tank on Tiberian Sun, the four legged variation.

Hmm..you're right. That might not be the best idea. But i could offer a Kärcher high pressure cleaner....hm but that might eliminate the lawn as well. You know what a classic plastic bag should do it :).

Edit: Apparently i'm wrtiing nonsense here about some dog poop. Please move on. Nothing to see here :)

I guess they tried to appeal to new players with Tiberium Wars (and e-sports of course) and it was by no means a bad game but it didn't feel right. And you're Tiberian Sun a believable continuation from the original. And i also liked the post-apocalyptic setting. Imho they should have left the whole alien thing a bit more vague. As much as i love the mammoth tank. The Mammoth walker was awesome :)

You are right, C&C 3 was just not right. It just did not feel like a continuation of the main C&C story. Like I said, they should just have had Nod use the crashed ship for new technology. GDI had it's global research and wealth, NOD has the alien tech. But I guess EA had other ideas for the game and wanted Aliens. Maybe they wanted it to be like StarCraft. :-)
