LaPtiteBete: Do you think they will still run on Windows 8 ?... :-| I didn't even dare to try..

ElTerprise: Apparently the freeware release of Tiberian Sun is laggy and unstable ....-.-...
The page you mentioned also has a link to a new beta version that supposedly will run on Win8. Maybe it's better in terms of stability.

ddickinson: Good evening, everyone!

I hope you are all having a lovely day?

Lets see:

- Age of Empires: I own 1-3 and Mythology on disc. (All play very well on Windows 7).
- Dune 2000/Emperor: I have Dune 2000 and Emperor, and even an old floppy disc version of the original Dune. (I am not sure if these work on modern computers, as I have not played them in years.)
- Red Alert 2/ Tiberium Sun: I own all of the C&C games up to and including Command and Conquer 3. (All work very well on Windows 7.)

It looks like my purse is safe. :-)
Hey DD! *big hug*
Yes still doing fine - what about your day?
Well that good that you have those games on disc.
Let's see: AoE 1 and AoE 3 and AoM for me as well as Red Alert 2 but i lack the others....

ddickinson: Hello, Fearful!

I am doing good, thank you. I see you have done with your exam. I hope it went well. And it seem like you have a nice weekend planned. Are you looking for anything in particular at the book fair?

*big random happy hug*
Good to hear you're doing well. Did you have a nice weekend? Yes, the exam went pretty well. I'm not really looking for anything in particular, but the fair has a nice selection of English books, and most of them are priced between 2 and 4 euros, which means it's a good place for impulse buys. :P I'll probably get my mother some cookbooks, she likes those.

I am good, thank you. It's been a nice sunny day, and I got quite a bit done, despite some problems with the cows.

I have box in my attic full of old games, ranging from some of the older consoles to PC games. Lots of fun Pc games, most of which can still be made to work on Windows 7, which is nice.

Age of Empires 2 was my favourite, although Age of Mythology was fun, due to all the mythology (obviously :-)). I have all the C&Cs up to Command and Conquer 3 as part of one big box set. All DRM-Free and playable anytime. :-)

LaPtiteBete: Wunderbar !!! ô__ô Thanks !!!
Do you know if we can play in multiplayer somewhere ?... :D

You're welcome :).
From what i know the developers of OpenRA plan to implement Tiberian Sun into OpenRA at some point :)
Which means it should run fine then.

Whoops...overlooked that...my reading skills are deteriorating....hopefully it makes it more stable otherwise i'll wait until it's playable via OpenRA :).

I have a lovely weekend. Saturday evening was lovely as usual, and despite going to sleep late, I managed to get a really good nights sleep, which helped recharge my batteries after the week with little sleep. Sunday was raining for the most part, I just stayed in with my partner and had lots of fun at home.

My partner never lets me go to book fairs by myself, I always end up coming home with way too many books. So she usually comes along to help me just pick a few, and to get some books for herself as well. :-)

Your partner must be a VERY strong willed person if she can tell you what to do. :-)
Hi DD.

tinyE: I replay these once a year.

I honestly don't know. I found an installer for RA 1/C&C 1 that requires the disc (which I have) and makes it run really smoothly on WIn 7, but I don;t know about 8. C&C TS and RA 2 run fine on Win 7 without anything. I would be shocked if there wasn't something like that for Win 8 users, if that is the games don't work as is. Kind of shitty answer that isn't really an answer. :P

Anyway they are not available here.... I was just daydreaming ;-)
So... many of them still worked on Windows 7... ? interesting... I might give them a try on Windows 8... before my CDR turn into dust...

Good to hear you've regained some of your energy, and that you had a lovely weekend! :)

Yep, I think I spent around 50 euros last time for fifteen books (but they're all new as well, not second-hand, so it's pretty good value). I did even better in England a few weeks ago, because I bought fourteen books for less than 25 pounds.

Yes. I need to look at my shelf with pc games to find out which games will still run on Windows 8.1.
Yes Age of Empires 2 is a great game. I often played it in multiplayer with a friend using his disc :)
Age of Mythology was fantastic. I think i played through the campaign three or four times :)
That sounds like a really nice collection. Command & Conquer had the problem that except from Renegade and Red Alert 2 all games were censored in Germany (Generals and Tiberium Wars both even had an censored and an uncensored version....)
avatar
ElTerprise: That's sounds a really end for a week. I hope they'll be worth it :).
avatar
FearfulSymmetry: I'm going to be so broke this month. First all the awesome game sales and now the book fair. :P It's worth it, though.
COMBO !.......... FATALITY !!!! +__+
A book fair... awesome !! :-)
[EDIT : you already answered n__n]

Hi DD.
She can wrap me around her little finger. And she would have to be strong willed to put up with someone like me for as long as she has. :-)

Hello, Endre!

How are you today? You missed all the talk about Moon swimming naked. Did you know that the lake she went to has a nudist beach on it? The most popular in all of Hungary. :-)
