ElTerprise: Yeah same like Mortal Kombat X. Or Assassins Creed Unity which also had micro-transactions in it despite being an utterly broken game. I get the point of micro-transactions in F2P-games as long as they're reasonable but having them in full priced games is not acceptable...
Are they ever reasonable in F2P games? They often just seem like horrible ways to abuse the concept and charge as much as possible, like the Dungeon Keeper mobile game that caused so much attention and bad publicity.

adaliabooks: Not surprised your tired the amount you work. Not long till Sunday and your day off at least :)

Work is fine, we've got two great regular pitches now so I'm not worried anymore. We've got a few bigger events lined up for the summer too, but the regular stuff pays us a decent wage and is fun and easy so we're mostly planning to stick to that, maybe pick up a third pitch towards the end of the year.

Anyway, I'm off to bed. Speak to you all tomorrow :)
Yep, Saturday evening and Sunday will soon be here, then I can have some much needed rest.

That's great to hear about the regular pitches, and that you have some extra events on. Fingers crossed you will keep doing great, and hopefully the colder months will still be nice and profitable for you.

Goodnight, sleep well!

CarrionCrow: Good evening. =)

I've had it for a bit, but since I download everything as I buy it, I just couldn't get myself all excited at the prospect of downloading it all again.
Not going to condemn it outright since it's an alpha, it could be a useful item in the long run for keeping things up to date rather than manual patches coming out of my ears sometimes.
I only started backing up all my stuff so having Galaxy wasn't too bad except for the replacement of german versions with english ones...

moonshineshadow: Yep, that is true. Now that we are talking about it, I realise I never preordered digital editions. Risen games were boxed Collectors Editions :D

That reminds me, did you find the first Raven book? I guess if yes you probably did not have time to read it yet since you are so busy.
avatar
ddickinson: How are the Risen games? I have heard a few people talk very poorly about them.
I liked them. I don't care what other people say. They were not as great as the first two Gothic games, but the feeling they had was still the same. And I also never understood why people complained about the pirate theme in the second one, I had really fun with it.
For me they are good games and I don't regret buying them at all.
Just a very quick good evening to all you chatty peeps. Hope everyone's doing well. :-)

EndreWhiteMane: I am now the proud owner of the Alpha version of the GOG Galaxy Client.
<yawn>
Carry on.
avatar
CarrionCrow: Me too. I can tell that you're as thrilled and elated as I am. =)
Some minor advantages but not much.
MP doesn't interest me so that's out.

Path of Exile comes to my mind. There only charging for cosmetic stuff afaik...

moonshineshadow: As far as I understood it, the galaxy client downloads them in some kind of pre-installed state. So installers need more space and can only be installed with the client. For the standalone installers we will need to download them directly from the website like we are doing now.
So if we wan't automated updates there will be no standalone installers. And my impression was that they are not going to change this concept.
Well...so much for that, then. -laughs-

Good evening. Doing great here, how are you?
avatar
EndreWhiteMane: It already does a lot of things, I just meant it works like a glorified browser, just like Steam and all the other clients do.

OK, enough of that, back on Firefox. :-)
avatar
ddickinson: I have never used a client before, so I have nothing really to compare it to. Do you think you will be switching to the client when it is finished, or will you stay with Firefox?
Probably stay with Firefox most of the time.
The forum reply feature is OK, it's sitting there blinking it's little orange heart out right now. :-)
(telling me I have replies)

When I get around to playing the first Gothic game, and if I enjoy it, I will be sure to check out Risen as well. A pirate theme does not sound too bad, but I guess there are always games that people hate and other do not.

Doing well here. I hope you are doing well today?

What I don't get is games that charge full price, but then have micro-transactions for vital game elements. Cosmetic things are fine, I have no real problem with that, but too many seem to be making the games impossible to play unless you pay more and more.

I wonder if we can get them to put the little orange heart on the website as well, it sounds very cute. :-)

Exactly. That 's the point i find unacceptable spending addtional money on a full price release. But it seems people are using that system which is really disappointing as it encourages other Developers/Publishers to do the same...

Already have Labour Day - or May Day or International Workers' Day - here :P
