So about this thing of steam charging for mods now. Where exactly does it say who gets what slice of the pie? I've been looking but can't seem to find the terms agreement details.

PS: Hmmmm pie!
PPS: Aaaaand, it's gone.

ElTerprise: Moin :). Doing good here....
Any suggestions from weekend sale? I only own Mark of the Ninja so far, will probably get The Ball, Dragon Commander and Vertical Drop Heroes ...
avatar
j0ekerr: There are quite a few which are supposed to be good, one or two even manage to step into awesome territory, but I haven't personally played any of them so I couldn't recommend them.

avatar
ElTerprise: Well the next step would be "Jurassic Universe" then, i suppose ;)....
avatar
j0ekerr: You go too fast, next is jurassic system, then jurassic cluster, then western spiral arm, then galaxy and finally universe.

Are you reading this Hollywood execs? Remember to send me my check.

DAMNIT! My buzz is beginning to disappear already.
avatar
AgentBirdnest: I would see Jurassic Western Spiral Arm just because of the awesome name XD

Upon watching the first two movies again recently... I discovered that I absolutely can't stand the first one. I actually enjoyed the second one more.
I second that - Jurassic Western Spiral Arm is indeed an awesome name
You should get the rights for it... :D

ElTerprise: First: I mixed some words up in my post. I meant hesitate instead of bother (which is the opposite) - sorry for that

I don't exactly know about the numbers but how much are 70.000 compared to all Steam users? Don't get me wrong i also want that to change but i'm a bit more pessimistic about it...

This issue is really represantative of the state the whole games industry is currently in....
I think Gaben was bragging about 60 million users, which should be 60 million accounts really. But by now it's probably more than that.

But then again, 70.000 signatures is quite a bit. Because it means 70K people who are more energetic than the usually lackadaisical person who doesn't answer the phone because the receiver is too far away and the bowl of cheetos on his belly might fall.

Hurm. Upon further thought I've realized that truly, it does have the potential to be TOTALLY AWESOME!

OpalTitan: All true. There is a great fear but there is also great hope. A lot of people have actually joined the anti pay community despite Valve's attempts of censorship and there is a petition in the works with at least 70 thousand signatures last time i checked. Don't know how all this will turn but i'm not gonna go down without a fight. Only time will tell. No matter what happens i will be here. I am done with Gayben and his little posse.

If you take into consideration that only Elder Scrolls users are affected and have genuine concern for the issue that is no small number but i don't expect a great percentage of steam users to protest, i agree with you on that. Personally, i just felt i had to do this. Because eventually, people give in to their apathy., which reminds me:
"People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy and i can't do that as Bruce Wayne, as a man i can be ignored, i can be destroyed but as a symbol. I can be incorruptable. I can be everlasting."

True. 70k is an impressive number and although i hope they can make them change it i doubt it.

Good Point with the Elder Scrolls players. And i totally understand your decision move away from it. The discussion made me think of too. I am one of these Elder Scrolls players after all (although i only used some mods)....

For the moment i think i'll just kick Steam from my hard drive...

I don't think they'll listen to the protest OF THEIR OWN COSTUMERS to stop with this bullcrap. As I said in my thread "if EA has a better costumer support, you should review your service"

Good, you should do that and never look back.
Long live the DRM-Free revolution!

Yeah. But don't give EA too much credit ;).

It's a test for me. But that also means i have to give up CKII and EUIV for the moment (just realised that both games could also get the Skyrim model...as they're both highly moddable games)

But still, you should abandon Steam for good.

I already told you about Banner Saga, Guacamelee also made a nice impression when I tried it - but it's seems to be a bit pricy to me. At least when I consider that you can get the steam key at bundle stars for less than €5 at the moment - bundled with the excellent Monaco and some other stuff. Well but it's steam keys and we're supposed to boycott steam from now on - so maybe you might wait for a better discount. On the other hand, you're at least not paying GabeN, just using the platform to redeem the keys...

Honestly, I'm not willing to quit steam completely - too many games in my library I still want to play. But if you think that you have to act consistently, it's up to you.

I don't see the point to this. Not buying new steam stuff - okay. But quitting my library? What for?

Back to the current sale :D

I'm struggling with the decision if I pick up the Wizardry Series now or wait for a later sale. I definitely wouldn't be playing it anytime soon, it's just out of nostalgia.

Back when I was a kid, I played Wizardry VI on an 80286 PC with monochrome (black/green) graphics. The graphics were horrible even for that time and I envied a friend of mine who was playing Wizardry VII on an 80386 with VGA - but I sunk hours and hours into it. My English was horrible, so I didn't really understand what the story was about and I never finished the game - still, it was I great fun and one of the most memorable gaming experiences of my life!

Just dropped by to say Good Day to everyone, before running some errands.

Hope you are all having a good weekend, and are getting rest, or getting things done
that need being done.

All is well here, and with me. even got a few extra hours of sleep this morning. :)

Oh yes, I saw Agent's pics yesterday, (and ZenWan's too the other day...) very nice, indeed!

And now I'm off for a bit, though I'll be back later on. To forage! (I go)...

Good to hear everything is fine with you. I just spend an incredibly boring day at work, hardly no customers and nothing to do. I miss all the folks here to cheer me up :D

Edit: bored...

I'm thinking about leaving Steam after the shit they pulled, which is explained here:

Understandable, but as I hinted before quitting completely is not an option for me. I will go on playing the games I have in my library, and I won't quit businesses associated with steam, like Humble Bundles. They just won't see any direct payments from me anytime soon :D

I believe I will take a similar route, although I rarely log in to Steam these days anyway.

I don't like what they've done here but there may be positives. Rather than immediately quit for good I'd be inclined to see how this settles in the longer term and just hold off buying any new Steam games until there is a better sense of how the market will balance out. I make this comment with some bias: I don't use Steam much so I'm not as upset as other people, especially the Skyrim players.

For anyone that hasn't seen it, Total Biscuit / Cynical Brit's take on the issue is fairly balanced:
