FearfulSymmetry: Haha, most of the time they function perfectly and you never notice them. But sometimes you just have a stroke of bad luck. :P
It can happen. I had some real bad luck with my glasses yet. Best thing was when a screw undid itself and one glass fell into the soup i was eating at that time...

LaPtiteBete: You mean, green and hazel on the same iris, or each eye a different color ? (like Jane Seymour !) :-)
I think heterochromia means different colors for each eye, so she'd have one green and one hazel. Correct me if I'm wrong! :)

That's really impressive! I've never managed that. In fact, I've never seriously damaged my glasses, but that's probably because I don't wear them much.

FearfulSymmetry: I think I mentioned I tore my contact lens last week. Well, now I have a new contact lens. Unfortunately, this lens is blue, while the other one is white, which means that I now have a blue circle around the pupil of my right eye but not around the left. It look silly, to say the least. And what's worse, this new lens is made of a different material that dries my eye out very quickly, which means that I can only wear my lenses for a few hours at a time. I'll have to call the optician tomorrow and see if I can come by in the weekend. So, even despite the fact that I now have a replacement contact lens, I still can't wear 'em. Things are going well. :P
Ho, cr*ap... you have bad luck with this lens !! :-)
I hope this will be fixed soon...
I wear lenses from time to time... no color ! maybe I should try... that would be a nice change... :) (I wonder if anyone would notice...)

Yep! And thank you! :P It's not so much that the lens makes my eye colour different, but it changes the hue of my eye whites. So whereas the left eye is white white, the right is blue white. (There are throwaway colored lenses available though, usually in fantasy shops.)

Well i still don't know how this could had happen. I mean it wasn't me who undid the screw....
I damaged my glasses more often but mostly by twitching it during sports etc...

BillyMaysFan59: One thing that may help backlog battles: stop caving in and buying stuff at sales. It would be very hard for sale junkies, but if accomplished, it would keep your backlog at a fixed size. I might try doing that from now on unless we get a May the 4th Star Wars sale. :P
So no buying games on sale. Unless they are Star Wars games. :-)

I don't think I will have a problem with not buying games on sale, it has been a few months since I last bought a game for myself.

FearfulSymmetry: Thanks for the hug! Usually I don't have any problems with them, but my eyes were being a bit difficult a few months ago, so we switched from lenses that last a month to the ones that last half a year. So far the experiment hasn't turned out too well. Unfortunately, it'll probably take a while to fix this. My lenses are made to order and it takes at least a week to manufacture them. Luckily I do have my glasses in the meantime. :)
Would it be worth getting a few month long lenses to keep as a backup in case your six month lenses continue to have problems?

avatar
ElTerprise: Thank you. I hope so too :). But i plan to take a break after i'm finished with my master by moving to an english-speaking country for some time to further improve my english :).
That sounds like a nice play. Where are you thinking of going to learn more English, America maybe, or somewhere closer to home?

I mean each eye is a different colour, one of her eyes is green, the other is hazel. And for some reason I though you were referring to Jane Seymour the third wife of King Henry VIII at first. :-)

LaPtiteBete: I'd love it :-D ... unfortunately, nothing exciting planned today... tomorrow I'll go to the restaurant with my knitting-friends !... that's something !! :) (I hope there isn't any soccer event... ',',,',,',', :-| we didn't check it out...)

ElTerprise: Uhm....there is Champions League tomorrow....(but i don't if that applies in your case)
',',,',',,',,',,',,,','',',',' ):-| Holy Sh*t........ we'd better call first !!! Thanks for the information, dear informant !!

Ho, yeah... the tiny bit of lens around your iris looks blue, then ? strange... õ__ô

Maybe it shook loose over a long period of time? :P And yes, sports are dangerous for glasses.

ddickinson: Would it be worth getting a few month long lenses to keep as a backup in case your six month lenses continue to have problems?
I'm thinking of maybe getting some cheap day lenses at a drugstore. Those would have the correct power but not the cylinders I need. Still, it should be sufficient to see reasonably well in case of emergency.

Definitely closer to home although i know some people in Canada. It'll be most probably the UK as i had some difficulties understanding the oirish ^^ when i was in Dublin... :).

Yep, it's really kind of weird. I'll just dub myself 'blue-eye'. :P

The Irish are notoriously hard to understand, I think. I was having some trouble when I stayed in Dublin as well. :)

Oh my god i knew it would be a bad idea to tell my relatives about my training... now they are all lined up on phone to describe their symptoms... *sigh*

I don't even know the 'Dr Quinn' one - my first thought was of Henry VIII's wife as well! :P
