CarrionCrow: Now that I've said that, I'm totally waiting for Tetrobot to overtake Medal of Honor and make me wrong.
Also - the downloads are almost done. The frigging downloader's been going (and breaking frequently) for over 24 hours, but now it's almost done!
Stilton: I was wearing a sombrero - its now hanging from the light fitting ;-)
Not even going to ask why you were sitting at the computer with a sombrero on top of your Viking helmet. ;)
CarrionCrow: It sounds like Nexus is one of those games that really could have benefited from having more difficulty levels than the standard easy-medium-hard, so a player could fine tune their experience that much more.
Ixamyakxim: For a modern game it was a bit more "old school" than I expected. I played it hoping to easily attain all the bonus missions and have my fleet survive as long as I was mindful. In reality if I wanted to complete all the objectives I had to replay missions many times and work at it. For me, switching over to the lower difficulty really brought out the best in the game. Trying to be perfect the first go around probably soured me on a game I would have been gaa-gaa over if I had started it on a difficulty level more along the lines of my expectations from the start.
bitterbohemian: The funny part was, the people with SUV's were the ones who would drive like maniacs.
Ixamyakxim: LOL yes I've seen those people! "What, you're telling me that if I pull this lever / push this button I can't drive 60 MPH in whiteout icy snow covered conditions???" *flip*
It always gets messy when you try to do it perfectly from the start and get blasted a few times.
It's a good way to end up really frustrated, really quickly.
Adjusted expectations come into play, like you said.
