The creative minds behind EA Sports Fußball Manager and Anstoß - Der Fußballmanager are back on the scene with a new work: We Are Football. We were able to take a look at the title in advance in an online presentation and tell you in the preview what hobby coaches can expect here for the release on June 10. WAF is an attempt to bring the classic german soccer manager into the 21st century. This is how Gerald Köhler, studio boss at developer WS, describes his latest game.
In short, they want to offer a faster and slimmed-down gaming experience than, say, Football Manager.
The basic version of the game does not have any licenses. If you still want the full load of authenticity, you can buy a paid DLC on release. It will offer the real names and logos of the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga (men's and women's), the DFB Cup and the Super Cup.
The match tactics can be adjusted individually with various sliders, even dynamically during the running match. A match can be displayed in different speeds and views. Most of the time you get a kind of live ticker shown. However, during special events the game switches to a scenic view.
"It was important for us that the gameplay is fast," reveals Köhler. That's why a match lasts a maximum of 2 minutes. You should be through an entire season in 2.5 to 3 hours. "The focus of WAF is clearly on long-term club development," says Köhler. "On building a club over several decades."
You're not allowed to take on the job of a national coach in the game. But the European Championship and World Cup do play a role when your players are nominated to the national team and their market value is increased.
