The 2002 third-person survival horror shooter that serves as a sequel to John Carpenter’s genre-defining 1982 film is back, remastered by Nightdive Studios – The Thing: Remastered is coming soon on GOG!

You are Cpt J.F. Blake, leader of a U.S. Special Forces rescue team sent to investigate the blood-curdling events and enigmatic deaths of the American scientific team that transpired at the Outpost 31 research facility located in the frozen wastelands of Antarctica. Within these inhospitable surroundings your team encounters a strange shape-shifting alien life-form that assumes the appearance of people that it kills. Trapped by the elements and infected by this horrific entity, using all your team members is critical if you hope to accomplish your objectives, let alone survive. If you only knew which ones were still human…

Wishlist it now!
Looks nice! ^_^

Syphon72: I wonder if ND will try keeping After me by saliva when the end credits start.
That reminds me of how Still Waiting by Sum41 was removed from the start of Obscure
I hope they keep the game, music and all, intact

they probably cant with the music licenses expiring.. All Forza games get delisted after a few years because of it

Well then maybe we will get lucky and some kind modder will make something for people to add it in

Could get lucky like with Alpha Protocol retaining the license for "Turn up the radio".

TheCleaner517: Nightdive doing the Lord's work
No! Lord is doing the Nightdive's work! He's the copycat!

Insta-wishlisted and insta-notify-me'ed. I recall reading some review of the original release and thinking to myself "Damn I wish I could find a copy and play that...". My search is over!

I've always wanted to check this one out! Definitely a day 1 buy
Cool, loved seeing my brother play this game, we algo searched far and wide for the ps2 version, great game with amazing team mechanics.
I just hope they can get the spanish dub, not only text as it is listed for now. Either that or modders managing to restore the voices yf all else fails
I prefer the English language with the texts in Spanish, Italian or German (I don't care). From what you can see in the trailer, the game looks very good. I don't see, then, that besides the Remaster there are people wanting the original version. In general, the studio's work is very good and respectful of the concept that gave birth to the game.
Wow, so many fond memories of the movie and sleepless nights it caused...
The Thing (from Another World) [1951]
Cast
Margaret Sheridan as Nikki Nicholson
Kenneth Tobey as Captain Patrick Hendry
Robert Cornthwaite as Dr. Arthur Carrington
Douglas Spencer as Ned "Scotty" Scott
James Young as Lieutenant Eddie Dykes
Dewey Martin as Bob, The Crew Chief
Robert Nichols as Lieutenant Ken "Mac" MacPherson
William Self as Corporal Barnes
Eduard Franz as Dr. Stern
Sally Creighton as Mrs. Chapman
James Arness as The Thing

The classic original sci-fi version in glorious b&w. In terms of chills, and thrills, miles ahead of John Carpenter's "geek show."
Cast notes:
James Arness, unrecognizable as "The Thing", earned his bones playing Marshall Matt Dillon in TV's "Gunsmoke"(1955-1975).
Ken Tobey: Played Chuck Martin in the syndicated TV show "Whirlybirds"(1957-1960).

Nope. I saw it a few years after Carpenter's, was looking forward to it after reading a lot about it over the years, but it doesn't really live up to its reputation. I'm sure it was ground-breaking at the time, but while it holds up to some extent and has some classic moments, mostly it's just OK. (As opposed to Forbidden Planet, which actually deserves its reputation.)
