The Sexy Brutale, a surreal murder mystery taking place inside a bizarre mansion trapped in time, is coming soon, DRM-free on GOG.com!

There is a dark, secluded place. A place where everyone knows your face. Or mask, as the case may be.
It's "The Sexy Brutale" casino mansion and everybody here is up to no good. Only some more than others. See, the guests all got secrets to hide and stories they don't want to share, but also a grisly death awaiting them behind each corner. Your job is to look past this masquerade and find a way to save the poor bastards. Using stealth, misdirection, and some neat occult powers, you must discover all goings-on, map out the fateful moments, and prevent the guests from dying at the hands of the murderous staff. Don't worry if you don't get it right the first time - you've got all day. An endless loop of it, in fact.

anothername: With that title I would expect more something like this :D

ValamirCleaver: Julie Strain F.R.A.K.K.2
Yeah. Her fighting is pretty brutale and she looks totally sexy while doing it :D

... which reminds me... should gog not have that game by now? (Its F.A.K.K. 2 btw ;) ).

titling your game like a grainy '70s french porno is going to severely limit your commercial appeal [...] it's sales-killingly bad.
On the one hand, most of us do not like the title with good reason. Even grammatically it does not make sense: two adjectives, no name.

On the other hand, the game focuses on killings. The name and the art suggest something mildly devious (spicy but not a full terror game). Maybe the makers of the game do not want it to be mistaken for a family game (à la Ghost Master). Besides, the title is original and fits an original premise.

I agree! I've voted for Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2 on GOG like ages ago. Bring it on!

rtcvb32: While i like groundhog's day, i can see i would quickly lose patience with this. As effectively i'd be afraid i'll end up having to solve every puzzle in a specific order to save each person, and memorizing or writing down which ones to do which will be more more tediousness than difficulty.
I looked around and found a sort of preview for this on a German website (sadly, not quite spoiler-free, but I'll try to forget the relevant bits ASAP), and they seem to have found a rather good way around this...
From what this guy claims there, one day only lasts 9 minutes, and can be fast forwarded at any time to any given time (morning, noon, afternoon). It sounded to me like there's no need to save every single person every time in order to progress - you only need to acquire their masks (to get special abilities) and to use those masks, the person in question needs to be alive.
Well, we'll just have to wait and see - but I'm intrigued, it sounds like it could be a lot of fun :)

Edit: Ok, further research revealed that there is, apparently, a certain order victims have to be rescued in sometimes. It does sound like the actual puzzle/difficulty is more about finding out who killed who and how, rather than the prevention of said murder.

looked nice, something like the old who killed/murdered .....
but in a very modern way developed, thus : 3d and full rotating, and vectorlike animations of people ( i always favored the old classic bitmap liked which would be blocky but looked more like real humans)

So i clicked and watched some videos, to bad its to modern for me, and even if i would like it and be able to play it the min req are also quite heavvy:

for the ones interested: min req.

Minimum:
OS: Win7 64bit
Processor: Intel i5-3450 @ 3.10 GHz (4 CPUs)
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 ( i have a 750 ti so this time my gpu would be able to handle it )
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 2 GB available space
Sound Card: Realtek High Definition On-board Audio

I mean, if you insist on calling the hotel in the game that, fine... but titling your game like a grainy '70s french porno is going to severely limit your commercial appeal. I almost gave the announcement a skip just because of the name. Devs, seriously, it's sales-killingly bad.

CharlesGrey: My guess is, they probably know what they're doing. It's entirely possible that the title will actually attract more attention. And those who only care about the game mechanics won't skip the game just because they don't like the name.

Either way, this sounds like a mix of Clue(do) and Zelda: Majora's Mask? Seems like a unique game concept -- going to keep an eye on it.
I know Cluedo (had it on cd) and many 'clones' ( which wont work of course thanks to mickeysoft) and usually i buy them because they were isometric, today everything has to be full 3d and rotating (and zooming ofcourse) must be possible from all angles ( causes motion/seasickness) so although i like the game idea, the way the game is developed with all its3d stuff is much less for me.

Tons of 3d releasing is okay cause its hot and sells like crazy, but always make sure there will be games developed for the people who cant play these type of games, i wonder what they used, i assume the easy way is unity (which will give fps issues ( google for it) even on very big machines, i read some posts on steam that users with a very strong pc still had issues with lots of unity build games.

Anyway i will keep my eyes open for more simple AGS created games like wadjet eye makes, i own all the games so i hope they release some more games soon.

IAmSinistar: Not exactly a unique concept, since Elsinore is doing the same thing. Only with better taste. :)

HypersomniacLive: This looks lovely! I guess you've backed it? How's the beta? And any word on it coming here?
Yes, I backed it, and am also in it. I'm supposed to be a gardener, if all it went to plan. :)

It's a good game, I've played the beta. You have to be strategic about who you follow and where you are at different times, so that you can piece things together and influence actions. It plays not unlike a game version of the TV series Day Break, which I enjoyed.

EDIT: Not sure if it's coming to GOG, but in a just world it should.

Oh, I haven't noticed that... That's not fair, I've got GT650M :-( I'll have to wait and see what people say about graphics on slower cards after release. Sigh :-(

It looks cute, but the writing... Ophelia talking like a modern teenager would just throw me out of being immersed in the game.

Cheers for the chuckle!

And thanks for the info, I like the strategic aspect. What about the point CelticHound raised?

I didn't look at the game that closely yesterday, but I can see this breaking immersion, if true.

I didn't notice it being particularly jarring when I played. I've seen so many variants on Shakespeare though I just about anything works for me if done properly. :)
I find it really funny given the majority of opinions here (my own included) that the website of a major polish gaming magaizne posted news about this game saying that it looks very bad, but has an awesome title :D

I can understand that, but I got the impression that it's not really a modern take on Shakespeare, hence why I can also understand CelticHound's comment. I guess I'll keep a bit of an eye on t he game; thanks.

Just because sth is printed on paper doesn't make it true :)

It's not a straight adaptation, though the setting is period. The characters have had certain aspects tweaked, and some characters from other plays are supposed to make an appearance as well.

Have you seen the play (or the film adaptation of) Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead? There is some of that same kind of disjointed "period vs modern" element happening.

Aha! Thanks a lot about this last bit, now I have a better idea about the game, and what to expect.
