Magnitus: Not sure how the game actually played then, but it looks good to me (I could be wrong, but looking at the footage, it seems like it has aged very well).

Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
I was playing the Apple II version a couple of weeks ago and it came back to me pretty fast, although I had played the DOS version when I was a kid. It's still fun to me, although I can't finish it because the timing on the damn bird is tough to get down again.

tfishell: Funny, when listening to old Bombcasts I heard Jeff Gerstmann praise Karateka (though he may have been somewhat sarcastic, I dunno). I hadn't heard of the game until maybe a year ago, thanks to this.
The dude loves Laser Disk, when it comes to that shit he ain't sarcastic.

Its Jeff so you never really know though since hes sarcastic with basically everything, including stuff he loves and video gaming in general.

Karateka is one of my all-time favorite games I played on the C64 in the 80s. I've always loved the slow pacing, the cinematic experience and the wonderful art. This release is exciting. But I will have to wishlist it for now, because I'm still on Windows 7, and it wants 10. The woes of potato users.
Oh, I see the actual game will be added too?

SargonAelther: So is this a movie or a game? Looks like a movie, but it's in the game section.

Also what happened to the movie section button anyway?

"TWO REMASTERED GAMES"
"putting the shared history of games and their creators into one comprehensive package."

So .... two games + documentation.

I think it's a good format for classic games.

As it's written on the product page.

If this comes with the Apple II original version included (at least as a bonus), I'm definitely excited!

GOG.com: Coming soon: The Making of Karateka
I really enjoyed reading Jordan's books "The Making of Karateka" and "The Making of Prince of Persia", so this "interactive documentary" is right up my alley.
"I know what you're thinking -- 'it's a movie not a play, why not call it Movie Button?' Well a lot of these buttons were written in the olden days, when plays were movies."

Swedrami: Now if only something similar could be done with the original Prince of Persia trilogy too, or at least the first two 2D side-scrolling installments. A collection that compiles all the ports, including the arguably ultimate one of the original, for the SNES.
This!
Also this remake/version compilation/making of movie seems interesting and loaded with material, so I will definitely support the creators.

I hope good sales will prompt them for the prince of Persia trilogy remake/version compilation/making of movie.
That would be an instabuy too!

The first two are avaialable for free in the Microsoft Store, along with many fan mod versions.

Sadly they come with ads. I would happily buy them if that could be avoided.

There are 4 playable versions. It seems to be the Apple II, C64, Atari 8-bit versions and a new (remade) version.

Even if the C64 version looks good ... it's a shame the Amiga version is not included. Back to the emulator we go...

Can't you remove the ads? Your screenshot seems to imply that possibility.
