Microids is on a mission to bring us another installment of Agatha Christie’s iconic tales – Agatha Christie - Death on the Nile is coming soon on GOG!

A peaceful cruise on the Nile is disrupted by a terrible crime. Thankfully, famous detective Hercule Poirot is onboard.
Meanwhile, a private detective is tracking a murderer, leading her from London to Majorca, New York, and finally to Egypt.

The two investigations collide at Abu Simbel. The dynamic duo will solve a complex case full of twists and turns.
But the story doesn’t end with the book, and it still holds many mysteries and twists, even for Agatha Christie fans.
Dual Protagonists: Play as both Hercule Poirot and Jane Royce, each with unique perspectives and storylines that converge in an epic finale.

Wishlist it now!

Really? Again? That's just what you're going to do every time now? Write in your own deuteragonists to an established story to satisfy a gender quota? If you want to make a Jane Royce game then write your own story. The people behind The Crimson Diamond could do it, and they couldn't even afford a mouse!

Thank you. Can't wait for the release. The first one was awesome.

"Innovative setting: Dive into this story set in the 1970s, a decade of major social transformations. Amid feminist movements, the rise of minority rights, and the liberation of social norms, this vibrant era combines disco clubs, flared trousers, and psychedelic, where colorful characters bring a captivating plot to life."

Oh for for the love of God! Seriously?! So the previous part "Agatha Christie - Murder on the Orient Express" takes place in the 1930's and now the "Death on the Nile" THE SAME CHARACTER seems to be the exact same age and now is in the 1970's?! WTF?! And of course the story and character of Hercule Poirot is just an excuse to push the DEI/ ideological quotas.

You won't get a cent from me.

Awesome!
They put the story into the 70s, added another investigator and don't just repeat the known story from the book...I like that.

Jane Royce is "only" black?

Hopefully, they also make her a crippled lesbian to check all the boxes.

And we also need some pixies and unicorns with spiky blue hair, too!

PS: A slim Poirot means he sucks like a champ!

Same here. I am a bit bored with games trying to reproduce books I have already read many times, but that change of scenery and the addition of new major characters restored my interest in a game I might have skipped otherwise.

That it triggers the usual bigots is only a bonus.

+1! :D

They should have called it
Kenneth Branagh - Kenneth Branagh on the Nile.
It's bad enough that he injects himself playing himself into every movie that he directs, why does he have to be in the games instead of Poirot as well!?

I don't know anything about the new character - maybe that one works.

My issue with this is that I'm so used to David Suchet as Hercule Poirot that anytime I see anything where the character doesn't even remotely look like that actor, it just feels wrong to the extent that I can't enjoy it. This applies to movies also.

This could be a good game, but the main character... He just doesn't look like Hercule Poirot at all to me, and I can't get past that to the point that I don't know if they're following the book or just capitalizing on a title while making stuff up. If they called this Death on the Amazon, changed the location, and renamed everyone because it's only inspired by Death on the Nile, I wouldn't care what any of the characters look like.

I think it's pretty obvious that's exactly what they're doing. I mean, the completely different setting and a "OC donut steal" new protagonist are kind of a dead giveaway.

"Elephants can remember" was written in 1972
and "The Curtain" is supposed to be set in the 1960s, and yet the Suchet episode is still firmly styled in the 1940's

Much of Christie's work has been time shifted, backwards, because of assumptions of when they should be set.

Christie also put many capable women in her books

But that's not the issue at all. The issue is messing up the existing story when telling a new one would serve the purpose much better. That's why I brought up The Crimson Diamond as a recent example of an original crime story adventure game with a female protagonist that no one has an issue with.

Nearly Every adaptation of a book is altered to fit both medium and time of the adaptation.

You've been perfectly with Miss Lemon and Hastings in the ITV series. Hasting appeared in very few Poirot books, while Miss Lemon was not only lifted from an entirely different Christie detective series but was given a serious make over. The original Miss Lemon was as unsightly as she was efficient, and she was very efficient.
