As we step into the month of June, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate something very important: Pride Month.

Pride Month serves as a reminder of the progress we have made towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society, as well as the work that still lies ahead. It’s an opportunity for us to reflect on the importance of celebrating and embracing the diverse identities and experiences that enrich our lives with different perspectives. At GOG, we firmly believe that diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords, but fundamental principles that drive innovation, foster collaboration, and enable us to simply grow as people, as well.

To celebrate Pride Month, our queer team members selected the variety of games containing LGBTQAI+ themes and characters, all available on GOG. Inclusive environments and diverse characters create a safe space to have fun and express yourself for all kinds of gamers!

This time, we decided to choose a slightly different approach, to make browsing LGBTQAI+ games much easier; instead of just one collection, we created a whole page and divided it into categories.

Among such, we’ve created a list of games containing masculine romance representation – we’ve gathered all the games we could think of that include romance representation between male characters. Whether it’s Kerry Eurodyne in Cyberpunk 2077, Kim Kitsuragi in Disco Elysium, or Nailsmith in Hollow Knight, we tried our best to get them all! If you have any other recommendations that slipped our attention though, feel free to share them with us.

Another category you’ll notice is, of course, a set of games containing female romance representation. Through the emotional story of Unpacking, walking alongside protagonists of Life is Strange, getting to know Undyne in Undertale, and even more – we’re sure they’ll all steal your hearts!

In Choose-Your-Gender category, we’ve gathered games that allow you to play around and choose your gender representation in the virtual world freely. It’s a great way to explore your own identity, as well as try to put yourself in other people’s shoes – all while being in the safety of your own game, NPCs, without an ounce of worry about judgement.

Last but not least, we’re proud to present a list of games featuring transgender characters. Representation of trans people in video games is just as important as in any other media – and we couldn’t be happier to see the number of them slowly growing. Meet Claire ( Cyberpunk 2077), Sam ( Normal Lost Phone), Jackie ( Night in the Woods), and many more!

Let’s celebrate Pride Month – and together, make love last forever!

Lodium: For instance being crititcal to religion have newer been considered as hate spech
(Assuming you mean "never" and not "newer")

That's actually not true. Some people, mainly those of the religion in question, do consider criticism of their religion to be hate speech (typically called "blasphemy"), and that's been the case throughout history.

kasasensei: Got long hair, pony tail and even pigtails. Except in horrible countries I don't even want to name, I never had to hide or change. I had critics and mockery and so what?
avatar
HappyPunkPotato: I've had people in real life threaten to kill me. Perhaps the UK is a horrible place!
Well, I have to say that I was pretty shocked when I saw the movie "The Imitation game" and had to learn that the guy that was responsible to shorten WW2 was then castrated by his own country because of his homosexuality which ulimately lead to his suicide ... at least those times (hopefully) are gone now.

smilodoner: This is why 2020 sucks. Never giving these people money again.
You are aware that we have 2023?

Btw: I just googled "Pride Month" ... nice animation :)

My brother in Christ, it's 2023

kasasensei: life is politics.
A ridiculous and meaningless statement, especially without you expanding upon it, like I did before when I asked you specific questions (all of which you dodged).

Again, being born straight is *not* making a political statement, same as being born queer. That's ridiculous. It's just life. Which is not political. I can't believe I'm having to type this out...

avatar
kasasensei: hate crime does not exist.
The same as if you wished gun crime didn't exist, I'm sure. Another ridiculous statement. But maybe it's a matter of terminology...? What do you think hate crime means? How is it defined?

avatar
kasasensei: there is no persecution. (except in horribles countries like i said before and you should visit them if you don't know what the difference is between some critics and a real manhunt where people want you DEAD).
But there's so many of them...and you don't have to fear for your life to understand the importance of Pride, even in "developed" countries.
high rated

Yes, I'm very glad to be around now instead of then when it's just the random nutter you have to watch out for and not the government.

Dunno about that. :/
But yeah, times have changed at least.

I often wonder how different the world would have been had bigotry not taken Turing's life.

Silicon Valley would have been somewhere in Wales

Lodium: -This post will probably be deleted but i dont care
I see this hatespeach being flung around much so il clarify some differences of what hatespeach is or isnt

Being skeptical or being critical to identy politics /personal bias is not hate speach

Threathing somone or wish they die or something simmilar is hate speach though

For instance being crititcal to religion have newer been considered as hate spech
and no one has said scintist that says religion is just a human fantasy or god doest exist
have claimred these scientists repress the religous belivers or that these scientists are spreading hate speach
Not a single newspaper have written such an article

Magnitus: I kinda recall downright derogatory terms being flung around.

And things considered, when people say things like "I don't want to see it", it is kind of hateful.

If it is hard to visualize, imagine we were talking about ethnicity instead. Assume you singled out a certain ethnicity and publicly said "I don't want to see them, they should stay hidden". Its not great mate.
Insults are not hate speach either
But its not civil
and it doesnt contribute to a diiscussion or debate
unless its some kind of forum game where the goal is to come up with insults but those have prederminated rules and starts and endings

Somone saying they dont want to see it personally or they dont want their children to see it are not doing hate speach
but if the group Or individual wish to force their will on other people than them self or their children then i woud say this is hatefull
After all you can chose not to attend church or deny your children to go to church and still not be hatefull

Thers a couple of cevats here though
The will of the state can enforce its powers on somone if the enforcenent is in the intrest of the state/nation
------for instance the state can enforce its powers if they deem your childcare to be hurtfull or have a negative impact on the offspring.

Etnicity is a bad argument in this case
if we think in the realms of science then all humans come from a singe source if we go long back enough in history
so all are from the same group of people
(Some Apes climbing down a tree).

That is a wery bad comparisson to LGBTQAI+ that claims theres all sorts of identys around us isntead of coming from one group of people very far back in time when our forefathers climbed down some trees

NalUzar: Well... I don't care... Am I bad?
Only if you go out of your way to make other peoples lives a misery or to mock them and so on.

Just do what I do when I see a sports game, ignore it
Based.

Lodium: Insults are not hate speach either
Words targeting hate at a specific to a group (I won't list them, but it should be obvious the type of words I mean) are not insults.

They are hate speech.

Those words are often the precursor to violent or abuse actions.

But even when they're not, that threat of actual physical harm is imbued in the words.

If you use that words you know you are going to cause fear and upset.
Another day, another sale. Don't care much how it's themed. This one contains two games which I already had in sight for quite some time, one of them reduced by 75%.
And in the end that's all that matters.

To be honest, that would be the ideal world

The LGBT+ people and by extension are as interesting as a sports ball team or event, great if that's your thing wave your flag, cheer them on, otherwise just ignore it and maybe grumble that you're stuck in traffic as the fans leave the stadium.
