As we step into the month of June, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate something very important: Pride Month.

Pride Month serves as a reminder of the progress we have made towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society, as well as the work that still lies ahead. It’s an opportunity for us to reflect on the importance of celebrating and embracing the diverse identities and experiences that enrich our lives with different perspectives. At GOG, we firmly believe that diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords, but fundamental principles that drive innovation, foster collaboration, and enable us to simply grow as people, as well.

To celebrate Pride Month, our queer team members selected the variety of games containing LGBTQAI+ themes and characters, all available on GOG. Inclusive environments and diverse characters create a safe space to have fun and express yourself for all kinds of gamers!

This time, we decided to choose a slightly different approach, to make browsing LGBTQAI+ games much easier; instead of just one collection, we created a whole page and divided it into categories.

Among such, we’ve created a list of games containing masculine romance representation – we’ve gathered all the games we could think of that include romance representation between male characters. Whether it’s Kerry Eurodyne in Cyberpunk 2077, Kim Kitsuragi in Disco Elysium, or Nailsmith in Hollow Knight, we tried our best to get them all! If you have any other recommendations that slipped our attention though, feel free to share them with us.

Another category you’ll notice is, of course, a set of games containing female romance representation. Through the emotional story of Unpacking, walking alongside protagonists of Life is Strange, getting to know Undyne in Undertale, and even more – we’re sure they’ll all steal your hearts!

In Choose-Your-Gender category, we’ve gathered games that allow you to play around and choose your gender representation in the virtual world freely. It’s a great way to explore your own identity, as well as try to put yourself in other people’s shoes – all while being in the safety of your own game, NPCs, without an ounce of worry about judgement.

Last but not least, we’re proud to present a list of games featuring transgender characters. Representation of trans people in video games is just as important as in any other media – and we couldn’t be happier to see the number of them slowly growing. Meet Claire ( Cyberpunk 2077), Sam ( Normal Lost Phone), Jackie ( Night in the Woods), and many more!

Let’s celebrate Pride Month – and together, make love last forever!

WinterSnowfall: No, I am merely using a tool feared and neglected by many unwilling to accept alternative views: logic.

While it is true one can be a little greedy, or very envious, not even in minute quantities do they represent anything good (or at least neutral). Being proud of having raised your children properly can't be a bad thing to be sure.
I beg to differ. This, "pride/arrogance" is what makes others look at this particular issue and scoff. The pride of raising children is an accomplishment of sorts. What is the accomplishment here? Waking up? By that logic, I guess I should be proud that I can breath. I'm proud to be alive too.

DemonKiller49: Ummm....do folks realize that pride is a negative human characteristic often derided in most cultures? It's kinda like saying let's celebrate greed, envy, etc.
Or jealousy. There's one particular list of 10 things in a certain book where the alleged author admits to being a jealous god.

Accepting one's identity, and being open about it, in a world where that can sometimes be unsafe, or can lead to ostracism, sometimes even by one's own family.

Being finally able to "write with your left hand" after teachers have bruised it for years and forced you to use your right hand.

I get it that it's hard for some people to understand why such pride is not a bad thing in itself (if not overtly flung around, of course), and it's why I've advocated for neutrality by GOG in my first post. You either lived through something that makes you relate to it, or didn't and won't get why it's being shoved down your throat and may get sick of it. Which is also understandable, but to other people it means a lot.

Hope that clears up at least some of it. I'll return to being Switzerland in WW2 now :P.

Thought for Mods:

If you've not got a rota planned out to keep this thread clean for the next few days it might be a good idea to Lock it when you clock off and unlock in the morning, it will save you an awful lot of work and save us from a lot of hate.

Also pinning it in "pride" of place while locked would be a nice gesture too

mechmouse: To be honest, I feel very sorry for the staff having to do this, its very difficult to quickly cull the hateful content and not inadvertently catch stuff that was more nuanced.

Its terrifying how things have changed so rapidly over 5 years.
No hard feelings, but you'd probably consider my position hate, though I can think of 3 distinct oppositions to this, and only one I would call obviously hateful (the other is incidentally hateful even though it's the most accommodating. But with all the pruning, any chatter here would be a waist of time...maybe that explains why it's so swift and broad.
So when is the day of straight people? When do we get to celebrate?
Sick of being fed these beliefs of others and being forced to accept something that is not acceptable to me. Do i walk with a shirt, ¨straight and proud of it¨ around and force my beliefs on everyone? NO! So keep your beliefs to yourself and do what you want, but just stop feeding others with your pronouns and other nonsense.

Go ahead and make one. Nobody is stopping you.

It's not a belief, it is a core aspect of their identity.

Since when did someone had to convince you that you were a guy and sexually attracted to women (taking a wild guess here about your own identity)?

You kind of figured that one out on your own without a whole lot of soul searching didn't you? I'm guessing there is not a whole lot of convincing someone can do to persuade you that you are something else.

Sure thing. Will you please also tell this to people calling others pedophile or worse just because they like a certain genre of games? Unfortunately I can just post this here in the forums since I have to assume that my chat messages never reached you since I never got any reply when I tried to talk about this mismatch in handling the toc in private.
there is no point in being proud of something innate, but ok. only, there is no need to shout it to the world. there are thousands of things to be proud of more meaningfully and their bearers don't bother others with it anyway.. who cares about their private things or why to?

so i skip this (for me) nonsense
In Germany Pride month has been abolished for lack of interest. It's now called Stolzmonat and all of June is one long occasion for patriotic (or one could say nationalistic) celebrations. The trend has already spread to other European countries. So maybe this is the last Pride month celebration ever on Gog.
All this petty outrage is disgusting.

Moronic Pride day would almost make sense if they weren't already in the majority.

So this thing will die out like the Love Parade?

DemonKiller49: Stuff about pride being bad.
I think "pride" is an unfortunate word to use. It's more about "not being ashamed".

Ya don't need one, straight cis people have always been accepted.

Um...

*These aren't beliefs that you're talking about.
* Your post uses the following pronouns: "we", "me", "I", "it", "my", "your", "yourself", "you".

Which is exactly the reason why a "straight day" is not needed. "We" basically have it every day and since "we" are the majority and have always been accepted the way "we" are we have every day to celebrate it. I feel for those who don't or did not have that luxury. Happy pride month from my side. I hope that one day we will all be able to see that humans are humans and love is love.
