Shadowstalker16: Many Linux distros went 64-only in the past few months and they didn't feel the need to feed that killswitch to the users of the older versions via uncontrollable updates.
Dude please, what is sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 ???
The fact that you can only download 64bit iso doesn't mean most repos don't contain i386 versions of libs.

I also hope GOG updates its games to 64-bit, but mostly out of the desire to keep their library up to date, because third party software vendors struggling is probably what Apple wants, and I say let 'em have it.
You know nothing about Linux and multilib.
Linux have perfect compatibility for 64-bit and 32-bit at the same time.

What I said was the they weren't forcing the 64-bit upgrade via uncontrollable updates. Ofc repos having the 32-bit versions onhand is also nice, but that is for people who chose it.

I've only installed and played with Mint 32-bit so I wouldn't say that's an unfair assessment.

And prey tell me how is GOG to do that without access to source code of 99,9% of the games in their catalog? Even if they did have access, you do understand porting 32-bit program to 64-bit program is not simple as flipping a switch? It would be even more difficult for programmers unfamiliar with the code they're working with.

Maybe Shadowstalker16 just confused CDPR and GOG?

They could demand it from the developers of those games, which was the idea when I had in mind when I said it, but looking at how difficult it apparently is to port to 64-bit, I'd say that isn't very likely to happen. I have 2 games that were updated from 32 to 64-bit and both took a long time, so I'm guessing its quite a difficult process as you said.
Many (game) companies did not backup their source code well.
Many old or new games have lost their source code entirely.

Porting games from 32 to 64-bit needs manpower, money, a lot of time, and testing.
It is not practical to do it for old and not so old games.

Just a little update regarding 64bit Wine for Mac. I did a short search and found a few informations. Regarding PaulTheTall Codeweavers seems to joined to a project called hangover. On the last Wine Conference 2017 the issue was also a topic and they forwarded to the project as a possible solution. Beside the the following links I found nothing else, so I really don't know how well and fast they can release a working and high-output release. Because of the text on the project webpage my hope for a quick solution for gaming is very low at the moment. For more details see the following links:
