Hey chummers,

I created a Shadowrun Dragonfall mod called: "Brothers to the End". It's set in the Shadowrun universe and is designed to bridge the gap between the Super NES version of Shadowrun and the Sega Genesis version.

I spent the better part of 8 years working on it and I really would love for people to play it and tell me what they think.

It's a linear game, but I tried to include multiple paths, missions, and dialog choices (as well as multiple endings) to give it replayability.

It's designed to be explored, and depending on the paths you take and choices you make has 20+ hours of gameplay.

I have it uploaded to Steam, Nexus Mods, and ModDB.

Thanks and I hope if you play it, you'll enjoy it.
This looks interesting!!!!

Nice! I'll play it some day, I have yet to play Dragonfall, I have to finish Shadowrun Returns first lol.

I have a few references to Returns in it as well. I tried really, really hard to be strict with official canon. So I had to include something about Returns. When you get a chance to play it, let me know your thoughts.

That sounds fantastic, it might just give me a reason to emulate the Genesis game! What order would you recommend playing them, then? I haven't finished Returns yet but I have all three of the newer ones and I really enjoy the atmosphere.
Thanks for sharing and bringing it to our attention! I love a good mod for a game I liked and I was always a bit disappointed that there were so few for the Shadowrun series, despite the powerful editors that came with it.

Two questions:

1. Do you think it would be accessible and interesting to anyone not familiar with the stories of the console versions?
2. Can you estimate how long it would take to play through, approximately?

Always glad to see such dedication to a fan-creation project. :)

I have not played any Shadowrun games yet, but I'll keep your modification in mind, when I finally get to the series. It will be interesting to try.

Such projects as this one can inspire others to create their own mods.) Besides, not everyone even know about available editors.

To get the full effect, The order to play them would be SNES Shadowrun---> Brothers to the End---> Sega Shadowrun.

I will say If you play the Genesis game before Brothers to the End it will spoil the ending. I also included some references and characters to Shadowrun Returns, (though nothing from Dragonfall or Hong Kong as they take place out of Seattle) to tie it in as well.

Let me know what you think when you finish.

Thank you for being interested! I hope you enjoy it. I agree with you that there should be more mods available. There are some great ones, for sure, but I'd like to see more stories in the Shadowrun universe.

To answer your questions:

1. It is not necessary to play the console versions in order to play Brothers to the End. As much as it is a sequel/prequel to those games, it is a Shadowrun story first and foremost. I spent a lot of time trying to flesh out characters and give them unique personalities and believable backstories and motivations.

2. Brothers to the End takes place over 10 acts, with each act being its own "episode" if you will. If you explore each map thoroughly and depending on which Shadowruns you undertake and dialog choices you make, Brothers has between 20-25 hours of gameplay per playthrough.

It must be played at least three times to get the full story experience (four if you want to find the secret hidden ending) and a ton of easter eggs and situations that change depending on choices you make within certain scenes to add as much replayability as possible.

My goal was to make a game that people would enjoy and want to come back to again. I hope I accomplished that.

It took a while and there were a couple of times I got really burned out making it, but I feel now that it's complete, all those hours I put into it were worth it.

Even if you haven't played any Shadowrun games, Brothers to the End is accessible. It is a Shadowrun game, but it's really more of a story about two best friends and their lives that just happen to be set in the Shadowrun universe.

When you get around to it, please let me know what you think.

And yes, I would love to see more mods. The editor for this game is very underrated and easily allows for the creation of some awesome content. Hopefully, other modders will check it out and give us some new stories to experience.
You may wish to consider (re)posting this in the Shadowrun subforum, or to ask a mod to move it there for you (not sure if this has ever been done). In the general, you will get more/qfaster responses, but it will also disappear completely after a few days of inactivity.

Ah, didn't know that. Thanks.

It's posted over there now.

I appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing. While I played through the trilogy Harebrained Schemes, I haven't got around to trying to any of user-created content.

Oh, gotcha. So what about the modern trilogy, where does that fit?

There is some fantastic user-generated content available for the trilogy. Some of them are as good as the base games themselves.

Considering that, the value you get for all three games is tremendous.

I included several references and a couple of characters from Shadowrun Returns, as it takes place in 2054, it fits within the timeframe Brothers to the End takes place (Aug 2057-Jan 2058), which is between 2050 (SNES Shadowrun), and 2058 (Sega Shadowrun). I had to connect all three of them for continuity sake.

Although both Dragonfall and Hong Kong take place within that same time frame (Dragonfall-2054, Hong Kong-2056), they take place in Germany and Hong Kong and not Seattle; I did not include any references to those games.
