With Kickstarter beta access on GOG.com!

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is becoming one of the biggest, most successful Kickstarter campaigns in history.

Straight from the under the watchful eye of Koji Igarashi, one of the godfathers of the genre, comes the newest exploration-focused, side scrolling platformer with RPG and crafting elements. In short, it's shaping up to be the biggest Metroidvania release in recent memory - already surpassing its original Kickstarter goal by sixfold. As of right now that is.

We're huge fans of IGA and Castlevania, so when we heard that Koji Igarashi was returning to the genre we knew we wanted to work with the team to play our part in getting this amazing spiritual successor out there, completely DRM-free, with our signature kind of customer love.

That's why we're excited to announce that we'll be supporting the upcoming release with DRM-free versions to all Kickstarter backers of the game pledging $28 or more!

Everyone who backs the project at the $60 tier (or higher) will receive not only a DRM-free digital copy of the game, but also exclusive backer-only content and access to the beta, all right here on GOG.com.

You can make your pledge over on Kickstarter, and stay tuned for future backer updates with more details on how to get started with your access to the beta.

RadonGOG: Straight answer: Yes!

AlienMind: Apologies, I misunderstood. I also don't see why this could be bad, then :-)
It can be bad because GOG advertises the offer. It's one thing if you go pledge to a kickstarter and the FAQ says "you'll be able to get a Steam/GOG key". It's quite another thing when the platform stakes its reputation on it by telling its customers to go back the upcoming allegedly awesome game.

Imagine you launch Steam and there's a personal appeal from Gaben to please give money to hungry babbies, you do so, and then it turns out the "charity" took the money and ran. Would you be angry with Gaben despite him not seeing a cent?

Zoidberg: Regional pricing, preorders and now KS games which are even worse than preorders. Don't get me wrong, I've heard of this one a bit but its story makes me thik of other anchored in the past projects that finally were quite disapointing. Also, what AlienMind said.

All this smells consumer unfriendly to me and it's strange because gog has been advertising how they are consumer friendly... there lies my issues with all this.
You are aware that brought KS games here long ago, right? First was FTL probably and there is much more, even hits like Pillars of Eternity, Divinity:OS, Wateland 2, Shovel Knight and many others. Most of them wouldn't even come out without KS so I don't understand why do you think KS is customer unfriendly and why its games have no palce here.

I am a strong advocate of finished products. I have bought "unfinished" games before and while I didn't have much issues with those, I have come to the point where I think it is hard to find a decent balance between customer friendlyness and development easying with this kind of thing.

Also, for those games they never advertised it so much as being a kickstarter project. I'm pretty sure it's because there are much more "bankable" devs behind this... which is unfair in and of itself compared to less known ones... but hey... that's the direction they're heading it seems... I can only deplore it...
Great news!! pc is getting alot of games, and the more ways you can get this game the better

so excited for this

Well... by default I would wait for a discount. Still - thanks for informing me, I didn't know that it's usually cheaper. ^.^

Resonance was the first. Before that, Spacechem has a kickstarter campaign for a physical version, but it had already been released by that point.

*sigh*

Quel monde...
Indulge me, in what way is Steam getting "better and better"? The paid mods that backfired or they being forced to refund games? And mind you that i'm not a gog loyalist, i have almost 10x more games on Steam and i'm the first one to complain about gog's apathy towards the forum...

No, I wouldn't!
And why should I?

After all, it wouldn't be GabeN, who run with the money - it would be the "charity".

Only idiots would be angry at GabeN, in that case.

Here in Germany, we had some interesting case some years ago.
When the "Telekom" (German postal Service) went to public offering, a german actor was hired to do ads for that PO.

Now, after the IPO, the market value of the shares went downhill.

Some idiots then got angry at the actor, because "he had tricked 'em" into buying shares of the Telekom. ;)

He made the only right thing: he replied, that they got only tricked by their own greed.

Now, you might be right in saying, that some loonies might get angry at GOG - but the vast majority will know, who will be actually to blame.

Yeah, again forgive my lazyness on specifying more details. I was speaking about the increased consumer-friendly refunds policy. True, it seems better on gog and true, it's most probably due to EU organisms that pushed Valve towards it, but still.

What's worse is the way GOG now seems to use the DRM-Free policy to make its clients swallow the pill of not much worse policies, some of which they were advocate against.

Well then, believe, whatever makes you happy, on such a sunny day.
I have never done Kickstarter before so quick question. If I back the project for a physical edition, how do I specify that I want a copy for GOG? Do we chose now or wait until the product is ready to ship and receive some email asking?

they usually sent emails with updates and news regarding the game and any kickstarter related issues, like where to go to get you gog key

They'll probably send you an email asking to fill in a web form when the game is almost ready to ship. Fangamer, a company which professionally manages kickstarter rewards, will be handling this stuff. I preordered directly from them. So far I got a link to a preorder management form: (screenshot enclosed).
