The biggest lifehack that I've learned from videogames is the fact, that I can put anything I need into my pockets no matter how large the thing actually is. Sadly I wasn't able to put this knowledge in practice yet as most of my real-life attempts ended with injury. I'm currently waiting for The Maker to patch this, it must be a bug.
To be honst, I basicly learned English from games.I armed myself with a dictionary and a grammer book, when I played back in 98-99 on an old console. If we got to be pointing one game - Heroes of the Storm, one of the more toxic online games you could find - how it helped ? I have trained to control my inner demons with it and now rarely ''explode'' in real life :)
I've played a lot of games (a LOT of games), but I'd say that the most important thing I've learned from video games that helped me in real life is to be observant of my surroundings - not just what's directly in front of me, but above and below, and also to listen closely to my surroundings. Lots of jump-scare games have made me hyper aware of each floor creak and door closing, and I can tell now when one of my kids is sneaking out to watch TV all the way on the other side of the house!
From historical themed games like europa universalis, I have learned some geography and history. One needs to know the kind of trouble people of every region could cause in the future, so that appropiate adoctrination plans are created to be imprinted upon them right after they are conquered.
Game: TETRIS

IRL Skill: Warehouse management.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Contra, and Double Dragon taught me the value of teamwork.

Myst and other adventure games, as well as first person shooters (FPS), taught me to be observant and aware of surroundings.

Observational skills and situational awareness are important in the workplace and elsewhere. Both are useful for doing a good job and for safety.
RPGs helped me to come out of my shell and learn to talk to people. I was a very introverted kid. I never quite knew what people were thinking or what to say, so I often just kept quite and let others talk. Actively choosing between the different conversation options and seeing the outcomes really helped me to become comfortable with how it all come together in the real world. I always thought it was the oddest thing that the world is full of people with private thoughts that you are never aware of.
Opmatization. Or more it refinded that talent for me. most of the time I care not, but when I want to make everything perfect. the back ground of RTS and TBS games and the hours of hours of figgureing out the best mix has me more easly pop out a faster path for makeing some thing work at its best.

Oh, lets not forget that the Economtics lessions I lerned. Tho in games it is basic. It helped my pratice balanceing and budgeting, resulting in myself diveing in to destute many times till i got the hang of how money works.

From playing the 3ds game Market Crashers, I learned that you can get rich buying stocks but eventually the market will crash.

this was also very similar to the stock market game we played in history class in high school

Just like other kids from a non English speaking country.

I learned English language especially vocabulary a lot from Sierra's games and Lucas Art.
It helped my English grade and boost my confidence.

Thanks for the chance.
Games like the original Tomb Raider trilogy and Prince of Persia 3D taught me to be better at puzzle solving.

Every single game I played helped me with learning more of the English language.

And last, but not least, a little game called Asteroids taught how to program a game using java applet back in my school days.
One of the best games I played in a long time, and now one of the dearest to my heart: Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. First thing I thought after finishing it, is actually that I wish to have found the courage to play it earlier, in my darkest days, because it would be a morphine toast for my own battle. It's a game that says: keep on keeping on, identify the ones that hurt you, and raise hell. Fight for yourself till you collapse, because there's always an end to the suffering, and it's on the other side of fear. So to anyone who struggles, PLEASE play this game, find the courage, and battle, because the end for the bad is really near.
