Riders on the Storm with Snoop Dog, from NFS Underground 2. It was my first pc game and I played it ad nauseam. That song stuck with me and even today, after all these years, I have it on a playlist on my car
Turrican 2 for me after hearing what amiga sound chip could do in the right hands.
The original Red Alert soundtrack is the first that comes to mind for me. Hell march is a really powerfull track and the rest of the music fits really well with the feel of the game as well.
I still regularly listen to the soundtracks of HOMM 3 and HOMM 4.

Paul Romero is the man!

I'd pick 3 over 4, cuz I used to play that with my brother, hotseat!
Dragonstikre from the 80s. I loved the music in the background while flying my dragon around. The pre battle music always made me feel super excited for the upcoming mission. Never forget the game. Still hoping it will show up on GOG one day. Most memorable music from my first days of gaming. :)
The most important OST from game is „Neverhood”. I remember playing this game when I was 7 yo, spent many hours behind the monitor and listening to the music. I even left it going in some places and play with Lego’s and stuff, however music was playing. Especially the whistle song while driving weird ‚wall train’. I love to come Back to this Classic!
The most memorable soundtrack for me is Morrowind, but in particular the intro theme, Nerevar Rising. It was the first game I played on the first PC I ever put together myself. The game was only one of the reasons I was excited about it at the time. My previous PC was some ancient build that barely ran Windows 95 well enough to use. Going online was always a struggle before then. So, to me, the song evokes the same sense of boundless wonder and possibility that I felt during that period. I could go anywhere and do anything. I could talk to anyone. I could even fight with anyone. The only limits were the ones I imagined.

2002 is a lifetime ago now for some people, but for those of us who remember that same sense of boundless wonder, it somehow feels even longer ago, like a different age entirely. A lot of things have changed since, and all of the things I was excited about then have become mundane and ordinary now. But every time I hear that song, I feel that wonder just as strongly as I did then. My enthusiasm has yet to be tempered. I'm not struggling just to get by or to be seen. I'm a kid staring at a screen in the dark, reveling in endless possibilities, and all is still right in the world.
Hello,

First thing that comes to my mind is Morrowind OST.
When I hear the sound 'Nerevar Rising (Morrowind Title Song)' it immediate immerse you in that world, making you a living part of it. It's not separatable from the gameplay.
I still listen to HOMM music; especially what people are doing with it now on YouTube.

Same level of enthusiasm but a far different genre: MegaManX soundtrack. :D
Dragon Age Origins's soundtrack by Inon Zur, it put me straight into the dark gruesome world of the game, as well as played with my emotions for the story and the characters, it took me days to shake off the feeling and remind myself I'm in the real world after finishing the game.
Grim Fandango soundtrack, especially the rubacava songs. That's some nostalgia on tap right there.
Outer Wild’s soundtrack by Andrew Prahlow is my favourite. The soundtrack perfectly captures the mystery, emotion, and sense of wonder that I experienced in my initial playthrough that just can’t be replicated in any other way. Plus the “secret ending” track cracks me up every time.

Second place is probably HOMM2, love the orchestral score for the towns. As a kid sometimes I’d just linger a little while longer on the town screens to wait for the vocals to start.
Final Fantasy IX, definitely.

I love all of Nobuo Uematsu's soundtracks, but for me FF9 is his peak, and he himself said it's his favorite work. It perfectly captures the feeling that most of the game's world gives, that of a tranquil civilization surrounded by nature or beautiful architecture.Which makes the moments when battle strikes (either in game or in story) stand out even more, thanks to its fanfares and imminent sense of danger it transmits. Characters' themes are beautiful as well; Beatrix's obviously stands out, it perfectly captures the dilemma the character goes through due to its sad piano, and her resolution in its rearrangement later in the plot. It's the kind of soundtrack I can listen to no matter what mood I'm in, or if I want to remember memories or simply get caught in the beat of the piece. It's perfect, in that it manages to both stand out on its own and perfectly elevate the events of the game.
Dragon Age Origins was on another level. I still remember the Intro, it gave me chills every time.
Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven. It's probably because of the shear amount of time I spent in that world with multiple play throughs, but every time I put the music on I'm transported back.
