Ricky_Bobby: Survival and builder-type games usually do the job for me, as well as certain rogue-inspired games:
* Starbound * Terraria * Sheltered * This War of Mine * Don’t Starve * Kingdom: New Lands * Subterrain
* Battlevoid: Harbinger * The Long Dark * Sunless Sea * Planetbase * Hand of Fate
* Pharaoh + Cleopatra * Zeus + Poseidon * Caesar 3 * Children of the Nile * Anno 1404 * Tropico 3
* Banished
I also find turn-based games very addictive, leading to lengthy sessions:
* King's Bounty: Crossworlds * Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic * Disciples 2 * Xenonauts
* Avernum: Escape From the Pit * Balrum * Underrail * Warhammer: Final Liberation
Certain adventure games work well, if they are not too complex:
* Blackwell * Gemini Rue * Resonance * Tex Murphy * Unwritten Tales * Jazzpunk
Some creepy games should keep you on edge:
* Amnesia * Penumbra * Soma * Dark Fall * Stasis
Action and racing games tend to tire me out quicker than other genres, even strategy games, so I usually avoid those when I want to stay up.
