Learn + Action: This one doesn't make any sense.
Univ: Deprived from us due to diploma mill spam.

Anything else?
Numpty!

Normally I don't deign to reply to you, but this really illustrates beautifully part of the problem:
Spam bots shouldn't even be getting this far into the process. We shouldn't have but to ban the most heinous of words of which would give me my final ban here if I were to even insinuate them.

Illuminate me this, do you know of many other forums with this kind of a spam problem that the shotgun approach is used?

Not a forum but Twitch is using such filters to control the chats. Certain words or phrases are banned and you can get automodded.
You forgot:

"oc-cult" is still banned.
I remember decades ago a forum banned "breast", so people talked about booby cancer.
****, ************ and ********************************* are also banned if I recall correctly...
Personally, I much prefer the British arse than the American counterpart myself. XD

It's a double-edged sword when dealing with information... I like to think that the group that could potentially abuse it further is like a drop in the ocean, but I do have question the real usefulness of this type of "censoring" when it comes to certain words that are completely harmless in itself. It would undoubtedly be more effective to prevent the use of the forum in the early days in the the first place, or even require the account to spend money first, or better, use AI to try to "see" the whole context.

A bad side-effect is the creation of wrong and potentially harmful addition/changes to our language, or worse, self-censoring and wrong-learning.

I mean, seriously, such a harmless word like admi + ssion is banned? It's a gaming site that really doesn't hide sexual explicit games, but a mundane word like that? Freak world.

EDIT: Yep, wouldn't even let me post it unless I added the +... O_o

i still think the genius the banned therapist from the school computers wins... and the bot nanny doesn't stop spammers, a ip blocker would but thats a different story
Insti + tution, apparently.
No idea the point of a thread nobody can tell you what words to avoid.

"Its in that place, where I put that thing, that time."
