This might help: http://arrowverse.tv/2016/07/15/viewing-order-arrow-the-flash-legends-of-tomorrow-supergirl/3/

I don't know enough to fact-check it, but it seems reasonable.

From what I recall, Flash was on Tuesdays, Arrow on Wednesdays. Alternating between the two is ok for the most part, or you could go with the link OneFiercePuppy provided.

I tried the every-other method last season and it didn't work out. Some spoilers were had.

Wait...what?
What kinda nonsense is this? You've gotta watch multiple shows in some sorta cockamamie order just to get a complete story?
This is like Marvel comics in the 90s, except it's DC and on television.

Yes and no. Mostky, it's just little stuff like a headline in a newspaper or a single comment about something. But the characters do mingle and the a few episodes are greatly enhanced by waiting both episodes. The main thing for me is spoilers though. Last time, a big spoiler was revealed for the flash bc I saw an arrow episode that talked about a bad guy or something. It wasn't anything huge, just a tad annoying.

But also yes. They're making it like the comics. Watch them all and you get more complete stories.
Frankly, I can't stand the DC TV shows. Silly storylines with bland characters played by the young & beautiful. *gags* Obvious part of the problem is that it's made for broadcast TV so its squeaky clean image doesn't really wash. I also get a good laugh with them having to use these absolutely generic city/location names: Starling, Central, National... =P

No. Think of it in terms of more well-known cosmologies:

You don't have to read The Silmarillion to get a complete story from either Hobbit or LoTR, but it expands on the world history.

You don't have to watch Captain America to enjoy Thor, but there are call-outs and side stories.

You can watch any one of those series without ever seeing an episode of any other, and you'll get complete stories. But there are guest cameos and side stories that you can get a little more from if you're "in the know."

EDIT: Oh, Tallima answered pretty much exactly this, already. Bleh. You quoted the entire Wall of China and I missed his post >.>

Ah, I see.
For a second there, I was afraid it was a gimmick to force you to watch all the shows or something.

Is it still worth watching Flash if I never bothered to finish the first season of Arrow?

It was okay, but I'm not a fan of the half episodic/half serialized style of storytelling you see in 99% of shows, I feel like you just end up with two weak and inane stories instead of one good one. I prefer full serialized like The Wire or full episodic like Law and Order (the original).

But Flash at least sounds more interesting, with King Shark, Gorilla Grodd, Mark Hamill's Trickster, etc. Is it the same thing? Will I get 20min of people staring longingly into each other's eyes for every 5min of cool superhero stuff?

Don't. The second season of the Flash is just terrible. The first one was so-so, a lot of bad and a lot of good stuff. But the second one is all bad. Terrible choices, pretty much every character is made a complete idiot, and The Flash himself is the biggest of all. The main villain sucks. It drags, it makes no sense, it's insultingly stupid and pretty much every new actor on the show is just plain bad.

Try Gotham. It's the only worthwile one. It's not a great show for the ages, but it's the only one to have a unique style, it's really pretty crazy, and definately doesn't have that teen drama/squeky clean image the other shows do. It feels a little like live action Batman: TAS crossed with the Arkham games. And most of the cast is pretty darn great. Just don't expect it to follow much of antyhing from the comics. It takes the characters, some elements of the world, and just mixes them in whatever ways the writers came up with.

Haven't seen second season of Flash, but it is ok. Bit more fun than Arrow, but that shouldn't be too surprising . I don't care enough to look, but I feel like it uses the same writers as Smallville. Or at the very least (to me) it seems like they're presenting things the same way in the earlier seasons.

It's mostly the same. I found Arrow to be too angsty for me to enjoy (I like my TV light; life has enough drama to satisfy my personal quota, so I'd rather watch Firefly than Star Trek, rather watch Chuck than The IT Crowd. If that's too juvenile for you, then ignore me because my tastes suck ^_^ ). Supergirl was just too bad on too many levels, but the first two seasons of Flash were okay. Didn't much like what I saw from the first episode of S3, though. Still, you should know by the first couple hours if you'll like Flash enough to keep at it.

Oh, and Hamill's Trickster was quite fun =)

For that, I'd recommend The Shannara Chronicles (which, for an MTV series, I found surprisingly good).

You have excellent taste! I wish they would do another season of Chuck
