I started hiding demos, goodie packs and other freebies I don't want to waste time/space on downloading (with gogrepo.py), as I'm not actually interested in and/or am never going to play them.

How many have you hidden and why?

brouer: Are you hiding owned games?
Nope.

All I hide are demos, prologues and goodie packs.
All the time, one of my favorite pastimes. Hiding games and then trying to find them. Imagine the joy when I randomly stumble upon a game I forgot I had years later.

Let's see what changed in my case since the previous time :) Ten more I see... Tags should still be self-explanatory.

Why? Oh, that's a long story. It begins 13.8 billions years ago...
I never use the hiding feature, not even for boring goodies packs or free demos.

(but nowadays I no longer claim blindly everything that is offered for free, especially not goodies/marketing packs)
Sure, sometimes. For goodies, for games I regret owning, or for the occasional milkshake duck.

With a list that long, one wonders why you got them in the first place ... most of them anyway.

Personally I don't hide anything of my almost 2200 games. Don't see the point ... a library is a library.

But then I don't really browse that library, and have the games listed in a few other places, where I have better control, etc.

I also assign helpful tags, for when I do need to call up an entry or three, if part of the title isn't sufficient.
Yes, I currently have 349 hidden. Mostly demos, some goodie packs, some multiples of games I already have (like Fallout when I already own Fallout Classic, or Witcher 3 original, while I keep the GOTY version on my shelf.) I do this to make it easier to catalogue my backups.

I like to have demos and such in my library for completion list and preservation sake, but don’t necessarily back them up unless they are a unique game, and not just the first level or such of the base game itself. Same goes with goodie packs, some of them are just a collection of goodies that the base games themselves already come with, so while I like to have them in my library, hide them so I can easier track my local backups without being redundant on files.

I put a custom tag on games I probably never intend to play, but hiding them? Nope.
Same with "non-game content". Just a different tag. Games I haven't played yet but intend to play have no tag. Completed games have "completed" tag.

I only hide demos and goodies, but i use tags for 'games not download yet' or 'next to play'.
Gog very rudely added some freebies without asking.

To hell with Beneath a Steel Sky and those Revolution Software bastards.
They know what they did.
Yes, demos, broken games and some freebies.

Understandable.
It's not to "tidy up" the library view.
I hide to exclude them from being backed up by gogrepo.
I started around when my total library grew to 500-600 games and I thought it was ridiculous to store stuff I didn't care about keeping safe. Same reason I don't download Mac versions.

Some are demos. It made perfect sense to get those, but no point in backing them up.
Some are freebies I thought I might like, but after reading the reviews later on realised they weren't really my thing after all. (e.g. Alan Wake)
Other freebies were highly rated games I felt some silly semi-obligation to grab, even though I knew perfectly well I would never play them (Witcher, Oddworld).
The Goodie Bags? No idea why I didn't skip those entirely.
20 hidden items all together, mostly stuff I picked up for free and found I dislike them so much I might as well "throw them out".
