Hi

Just thought I ask and see if any D&D players are on here. If so, would you mind telling me what version you all are playing and where?

I'm in the Kanagawa area of Japan and back in the days used to play at the Fleet Gym Lounge in Yokosuka on the base.

The computer games were a nice little way of getting my fix for playing D&D but I do miss getting together and pulling out the old paper characters and dice. Not to mention the fun of using the mini lead characters
Well, I own adnd 1ed, and bought soft copies on drivethru. Get my pen paper rpg fix through forum games, which are really slow paced and combat is a vague collection of rolls by the GM. More into palladium fantasy 1ed and an ol' british 80s dragon warriors.

Cool.

I first started out with T&T. Tunnels & Trolls by Flying Buffalo. Then got into D&D and of course AD&D.

I have some of my stuff from 1E as well.
I have the base books for D&D 3.5E (DM Guide, Player Handbook, Monster Manual), and have a campaign in Forgotten Realms on hold for the moment (may switch over to 5E, or <current>E at that time, when we eventually continue) while we're playing Numenéra.

I also have books for the Swedish-language games Eon and Drakar och Demoner (Dragons and Demons, so yeah, that's also D&D, I think it was originally intended as a Swedish translation of Dungeons & Dragons), and I'll probably run a campaign for one of those some time as well.
My group has about nine players and four GMs and cycle through different systems. Usually we have three campaigns, each run by a different GM and each in a different system. Usually if we are in D&D its 4th, 5th, or Pathfinder but sometimes we go back to AD&D.
I played AD&D 2ed once, a long time ago. Later I generally used to play 3rd edition and 3.5 and since I took over as DM in my current group we've been playing Warhammer FRP 2ed instead, though to be honest after a long time of playing that I'm kinda tired of it and would like to go back to D&D. Probably 3.5 again simply because we already have the books for that.
i have always wanted to play d&d. it appeals to me in a deep way.

alas i would not even no how to join a d&d group or even get my pals into something such as that. all of my closest mates are entirely non-gamer gym-bros. ugh.

the closest i ever came to playing d&d was playing hero quest back in like 1993. i loved that game.

Japan too, here, Osaka area. Long time I haven't had the occasion to do a proper game of table-top RPG... Boy do I miss it!

I stopped D&D at the 3.5 edition. I never really looked the next editions, as 3.5 was enough for me and my friends. We played not in the original D&D settings (Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft or the likes), but in the Scarred Lands settings (White Wolf Publishing).

Apart from that, I've played numerous RPG, both as a player or a dungeon master: Call of Cthulhu, Shadowrun, Warhammer, Nephilim, etc...
Playing up to 3.5 ed.
Usually 5 to 8 party members + DM.

Right now we are stuck in Ravenloft, hell yeah ! =)

Hero Quest, ah the memories. I was the impatient bastard that ruined the game by trolololoing around and opening every door just just so that monsters would be set free and kill everyone. All for shits and giggles.

Douchy behaviour that I'm kinda ashamed of in retrospect.

hah! my brother and i never really played the game by the rules. instead it was essentially a dungeon building playset with a small army of action figures with which we'd regularly make up our own rules. :-)

Damn, that's a crowd. I think 3-4 players (+DM) works best. Any more than that and things start to take to long and the party becomes difficult to manage. I'd never undertake DMing 8 players.

There are eight of them, heroes of the lance. =)

But yeah - we ussualy beat one scenario in about a month or so.
But it is really funny.
I bought a number of Pathfinder books a few years ago (Pathfinder is to D&D as Pepsi is to Coke) but never was able to put a group together. I have played some play-by-post games on forums, but those are pretty slow-moving and I'd imagine the dynamic of a live game would be very different.

Totally agree, I think 5 players (+DM) is my max for anything regular, though I could do more in a short span.

I play 5e, which is great because my group isn't really interested in diving really deep into rules. I was just talking with a friend about 13th age the other day though, and I'd really like to try that now.
