logorouge: But concerning the current campaign, I'm hoping we at least reach the funding level of the previous one so the Spire can return. It's one of the things I was really looking for in this sequel.
Yes, indeed. I'm hoping the same. It really is the most interesting thing from the new game. I'm not so much in to 3D graphics and all that.
Almost there now at cca. 95% funding. Finally AI War 2 will be made. Now we need to get to 80.000€ for the Spire faction.
And it breached 100% of funding goal. Now I hope we can get as many stretch goals as possible.

Go Arcen !!!!!!
Glad to see it will be made. I should probably try playing the first one before this comes out.
Chris Park uploaded a video explaining what Ai War actually is for those people who never played it. Even for current players its quite enlightening.

Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IluP7KEx0xk
Well that didn't take too long. Onward to stretch goals galore!

Matruchus, I would recommend updating your OP with the new Kickstarter link instead of the canceled campaign.

Thanks, did it now.
Wow! Congrats to Arcen for successfully Kickstarting AI War II! I'm seriously considering chipping in $20, actually.

I'm a lot less optimistic about AI War II getting on GOG though. They'll probably turn it down for being "too niche" or something like that, and the usual people will come out of the woodwork saying that it's yet another triumph for GOG's moderation, with some false equivalency claim about how Arcen is just as bad as Digital Homicide.

I'm glad to see AI War 2 meet its initial Kickstarter goal so quickly, and I hope it eventually finds its way to GOG. I can't think of any valid reasons for GOG to reject it, given the high quality and amazing post-launch support of AI War 1.

Yeah, but sometimes GOG has no valid reason and still rejects... I think GOG, and whole CD Project, got a little over their heads after success of The Witcher 3.

We will see. With this game, I support Arcen. If GOG decided to not sell it, well, I have no problem with buying on Steam anyway.

I hope GOG will update their installers for AI War 1 to the current version. Now you have to update the game via ingame updater.

I don't think they will reject it. Its the game series that Arcen is mostly known for and is an instant cash in if they release it here day one. It would be ludicrous to decline a game with the best strategic AI until now.

AI War is rank 82 out of more than 600 games in the Indie section of GOG (sorted by bestselling). I doubt that they will turn down the sequel.
OK, now I think they are underselling the game. :-(
(I know, some people are never happy...)

I'm guessing they are expecting that more people are willing to "pile on" to something that is certain, and through this momentum, reach higher values. But I'm afraid it seems that they are losing steam on their campaign on their third day.

I'd join in, as Arcen seems like a great company, but I haven't played any of their games yet, and my previous experience with Kickstarter games has not gone as well as I expected (over one year delayed). So I think I will pick up AI War now, and if I enjoy it (I expect to), get it here on GOG (YOU HEAR ME, GOG? Please vote here: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/ai_war_ii).

Has GOG provided information on how they compute "bestselling"? Total number of copies sold by GOG?
MaGog tells me that AI War was already out for 4 years before it showed up here on GOG, so if it would appear here on day one, I expect it to do well.

As far as I know it's units sold in the bestselling list, while it's dollars earned in the popular list on the front page.
