I always enjoyed the silence. When I wanted to read, sleep, play games, meditate, whatever, I really wanted no ambient sounds such as traffic etc. During the last 12+ years i suffer from tinnitus and I hear a constant ringing 24/7 so I kinda forgot how silence "sounds". Still, when sleeping I use earplugs since random noises upset me and don't leave me fell asleep. No way I could sleep with music playing or a movie. Or light. Maybe I'm a bat. :P

That's odd, I'm exactly the opposite. I can only sleep soundly if someone puts on a war movie in the background, cranks up Slayer, and repeatedly bashes me in the head with a frying pan while screaming at me for being a useless piece of dog shit. If I get all that... sawing logs in no time.

Hmmm... that sounds like when I heard "War Ensemble" for the first time when I was a kid. Minus the useless pieces of the dog. :D
I prefer absolute darkness and absolute silence while sleeping

it's the best rest

I ideally block out all light and sound and don't even know if it is the middle of the afternoon or not when I wake up

no clock light, no ticking, nothing

like a sensory deprivation chamber
