So my birthday is Monday the 30th and keeping with GOG forum tradition (which seems to be getting less and less these days) I will be doing a giveaway. Two lucky people will receive $9.99 in GOG games of their choice. The draw will be made on the 30th. Due to the presence of scammers on this forum a rep of +50 will be required and a join date of at least 6 months. The winners will be decided by random.com. Since joining this forum I have been fortunate enough to receive some great games from generous people and this is my way of giving back.

This is not needed to enter but as you can see I love point and click adventure games. I am making my way through the classics and have learned about great new games from people on the forum. If you recently played or are aware of a good game I would love to hear about it. Examples recently were Syberia 3 hopefully coming in December and Sunset which I had never heard of before but looks good.

Good luck to all and lets keep this forum a positive place to hang out.

GIVEAWAY CLOSED!!!!!!!

A very happy birthday to you. I'm in, but sorry I don't have a good recommendation for you as I am not very pointy-clicky.
Hi, fellow big point & click adventure fan here. I'm definitely in. As far as recommendations go, here's mine: the Blackwell series. Those games are really, really good IMO, as good as some of the best classics. It feels like a good late 80s movie, with characters full of personality, a cool supernatural plot, lots of subtle cultural references and good music. Definitely worth my time.
I'm a big point and click fan and I am from Canada as well. Since I seem to have enough rep then I will enter the giveaway as well.

I've played many of the bigger ones. What ones did you like recently? Have you played the LucasArts classics? Wadjet Eye games? Daedalic games? Or do you want more obscure recommendations?

I could make a big list, but I will limit myself to 3 games i've played recently.

1. Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure - If you haven't played a Tex Murphy game before this one might not be the best to start with, but it is the most recent adventure game I played. It is hilarious and features FMV acting full or cheesy jokes and bad puns. It has difficulty settings and a hint system so you have some choice on how difficult you want it.

2. Shardlight - It's a Wadjet Eye game set in a post-apocalyptic setting. It's been my favorite game of 2016 so far and is also on the easy side. If you don't mind pixel art, it's great.

3. Kathy Rain - It just came out this month and features a cool protagonist and is a mix of Veronica Mars and Full Throttle. It's on the short side but the mystery is engaging and I had a great time with it.

Okay you mention some upcoming games in your first post. I'm looking forward to Syberia 3 as well. I really liked 1 and 2 so I hope three will make its way here. Some other cool adventures coming out later this year are The Journey Down: Chapter 3 and The Devil's Men by Daedalic (hopefully).
Happy birthday!!

I'm also a big fan of Point-and-click. Lately, I've been pointing and clicking my way through Anna's Quest. It's been pretty fun, and the telekinesis part adds something a little different, although, after the first little bit, you get pretty used to trying the telekinesis power on just about everything. Either way, it's been a fun new entry to the genre, and if you can get it for a reasonable price, I recommend it.

I'll be in as well, thanks for the giveaway, and a +1 to you!
Happy soon to be birthday!
Point & Clicks were my first love, so I've played a lot of them, but not really much of the more obscure ones, so I'm not sure how helpful any recommendation of mine would be.

If you want something (relatively) newer, nothing I can recommend more strongly than Book of Unwritten Tales. I had grown disillusioned with non-indie adventure games in recent years, especially after playing Daedalic games, which I realised I didn't really like. I thought it may have been something to do with me not getting German humour, but once I played BoUT, I knew that was absolutely wrong.
The game had a fun atmosphere, nice music and art, lovely and on-point humour, and good puzzles that challenged me, but not so much I had to go for a walkthrough. It had a bit of pixel hunting, but that was fixed up in the Critter Chronicles (a sort of extra add-on game?) which I can also recommend.
Of TellTale's games, the newer direction they took, I'd say the best is still the first they tried it with: The Walking Dead. Not your traditional adventure game, but in this case, it works.

Other than that, in the indie sphere, I definitely also recommend most stuff by Wadjet Eye, echoing samuraigaiden's recommendation of the Blackwell series (still haven't gotten around to playing the final one, though), as well as Resonance and Gemini Rue.
Another strong indie recommendation is The Journey Down. Again, lovely atmosphere, beautiful art, and awesome voice acting that really helped sell the humour. To the Moon is another strong recommendation- the controls are a bit cumbersome (it was coded in RPGMaker), but the story more than makes up for it.

Since you're making your way through the classics, you probably already know about LucasArts' stuff, every adventure game they did is highly recommended (except maybe The Dig, for me? It had everything else great, but the puzzles were a bit convoluted and impossible if you ask me). On the Sierra side of things, recommendations are a bit harder, but I'd say the Space Quest and Quest for Glory series are highlights, and maybe Gabriel Knights (don't go for the 20th anniversary edition, though). Of the lesser known companies there's Revolution, who have Beneath a Steel Sky available here, which you've hopefully already played. Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2 are great games too. Another strong recommendation is The Longest Journey. It's sequel is apparently on par as well, but I've not played that yet. The entire Kyrandia series, but if you just want the highlight, go for 2.

51nikopol: Due to the presence of scammers on this forum a rep of +50 will be required and a join date of at least 6 months.
Requiring a reputation is not a good idea, as many users (including me) have lost reputation for no good reason, and I don't think it's fair for that to disqualify good users from giveaways.

(Regardless, I am not in, but please be aware of that issue; I actually am not interested in that genre and I actually find it annoying how large a portion of the game's released here are of that genre.)
Point and Click games? That's my main genre!

A favorite I've recently (well, not all that recently - I'm trying to get back into it after a small hiatus) played is the Black Mirror series. I'm not usually a fan of horror, but the puzzles and story were quite entertaining. The slow evolution (or, rather, de-evolution) of the castle and its insides was fascinating to see throughout the games.

My all-time favorite so far is Myst. Pure puzzling, just how I like it. Haven't played Riven yet, but I'm getting there.

Since you mentioned the classics, I agree with many others here. The LucasArts games are brilliant. Sometimes tough, but always entertaining.
I could make you recommendations a-plenty, but it depends on what you're most looking from out of your game. Story? Gameplay? Puzzles? Aesthetics?

I would be in, but, as you can see, my rep has been scammed to heck, so I don't exactly qualify.
I don't seem to be eligible for your giveaway (don't have 50 rep :-(...but I'd stil like to recommend you a few adventures:

1. Resonance: already a few years old, but fairly great, good puzzles, and has some interesting mechanics (e.g. you control up to four characters at the same time, you can combine pieces of information for questions).
2. Primordia: Charming setting (it's about robots in a post-apocalyptic future...), good puzzles, maybe a little short.
3. Technobabylon: fairly long, excellent, challenging puzzles. Didn't like the setting that much (it's rather dystopian and depressing), but in regard to gameplay really great.
4. Shardlight: interesting setting, puzzles a bit too easy, but still a good game.
5. Kathy Rain: fairly new, too easy and story had mystery elements I didn't like...but has some interesting characters.
6. Gemini Rue: has a sci-fi theme...a bit limited in its puzzles and scope, also graphics are too retro for my taste...but fairly interesting.

I'd probably rank them (from best to weakest) as: Primordia (because of its charming story, also has some replayability because of different solutions(endings) - Resonance/Technobabylon (both fairly long, excellent puzzles) - Shardlight/Gemini Rue - Kathy Rain.

Fairfox: I am poopy at P&C (I'm just not good at thinking logically or, in some cases, totally illogically!) but I likeike Full Throttle. S'easier puzzles, a bit of action mini-games and the voice acting is fab.
Also, bunnies in a minefield. Don't forget the most important and amazing feature!
Happy Birthday, 51nikopol! Hope you have a spectacular day (or at least a spectacle!)

I'm in, and as always, I recommend the Journeyman Project--a trilogy involving sci-fi time travel that I thought was a great adventure and also had some humor to it.

What are you waiting for? I know you'd like the puzzles in Riven.

I'm gettin' there, I just like to take my games one at a time. Current one on my list is Dropsy.
Happy Early Birthday, 51nikopol!

Have you tried Machinarium? It's a point-and-click game where you have to help a robot rescue his robot girlfriend! It has an interesting grungy-steampunk atmosphere!

Thank you for the giveaway, and good luck, everyone!
