Big changes are here.

My Account is the heart of your GOG.com experience. It's the one place that's 100% yours, and the place you always go to download your games and manage the entire library.
Starting today, your My Account is completely new - remade and redesigned from scratch to better support our growing library of games and many of your biggest requests. Aside from every usability fix we could think of, we've also introduced brand new tools to keep your library organised, and new social features to stay in touch with your friends.

The list of new features is long, but you can see the whole thing on our forums. The most important highlights include:

--Support for friends lists and chat.
--Shared wishlists.
--Advanced filtering and custom tags for your library.
--A new, detailed order history.
--Accessible game changelogs.

We're sure that these new changes will greatly improve your overall user experience on GOG.com, and we can't wait to hear what you think on the wishlist and right here in the comments!
Does anyone know if there is or will be a way to sort the wishlist or give the entries different priorities?
I don't like having 3 pages to peruse games, is there a way to have all games show up in a one page list?

LoveShines: I like the new features, I won't complain about those but the library doesn't feel like a library anymore. It just feels like I'm looking at the store or an extension of the store. I prefer the classic look and also the fact that out of all the hundreds of games I own I could just scroll down and find it instead of taking the extra time to sift through pages or do a search. In adding some of the new features I feel like some of the simplicity of the old have been lost, ironically, since this is all supposed to make things easier and it doesn't feel that way in that aspect. It would be nice to see an option to change back to the old library but also keep the newer features.

JudasIscariot: There will be 5 skins rolled for the shelf are so hopefully this will help those who would like to personalize their shelf :)
Thanks for the reply. That sounds promising. What about being able to keep everything on one page instead of multiple pages?

mvscot: What's with all this "My Account", "My Settings" and so on?

Firstly, most of us are older than 8 years old.

Secondly, it's the wrong possessive adjective (the correct one being "Your"), since these things supposedly belong to me, not my computer or your web server (whichever one of these you might consider to be the party serving me).
true, cause when we are reading the My settings My account this would actually be telling the I (we the customers) are looking at someone elses settings , someone elses games and account.

But gamersgate also uses My ...., My .... many times so i guess its common to use My (while it should be Your indeed)

Djaron: Oh and, i just noticed (painfully): thanx for the gog downloader links being bugged now... the galaxy client is still BETA ! what is this madness putting in effect a still beta stuff and shutting down or crippling the previous tool before being sure the "optional BETA" stuff is finalized ?

sometimes i may want to download something without installing it on the computer i'm downloading from !

and also, the downloads through gog galaxy are bigger size (exemple Dyad: 1 gb roughly through downloader, latest version... tested this weekend... install through galaxy: 1.5 gb... +50% size to download...)
i havent downloaded anything using the client as far as i can remember (or the client must have done it by itself)
but if something is downlkaoded, it will be auto installed into the folder we assigned it to do so?

Thats kinda sad cause the downloading is set by me to be in a different partition or drive, i have different folders/drives to download and install .

Maybe its all done automatically cause the very few times i used steamclient it also downlaoded stuff and started to install it without my approval (maybe its hidden somewehre far away in the steam settings , i dont know or care cause i use steam seldom (on my old xp only), only for 20 cents fun (max. 1 euro(okay xulima is an exception cause thats a good game)
Anyways, downloading is downloading and should not be auto installed.

JudasIscariot: You can add custom tags to sort through your library, I don't know if that helps but it should make it easier than having to click and drag a bunch of boxes on the shelf. I've tried the old manual sort even back in the days before I became GOG staff and I couldn't make use of it. I do hope that with the new tags this will make sorting options easier for everyone but I understand that a lot of people liked their manual sorting as well.
Unfortunately, it is impossible now to sort by adding custom tags. To properly use tags that way there should be an option to sort by tags (or by first tag if there are many) instead of sort by title or by purchase date. I'd like to add that the limit of 50 tags is surely not enough to emulate old manual sorting of a library having 100+ games even if "sort by tags" is implemented.

mvscot: What's with this meaningless stuff about friend requests with no associated message?

I'd like to know why someone wanted me as their friend, and I'd also like the chance when I decline to say it's not them, it's me (I don't want any friends!).

Currently it all just seems so rude.
100% true
normally all friendships request on every forum or community need a yes or no, so its kinda strange if this doesnt apply tot gog.
every forum i am member of or have been member of (some forums seem to quit over a period of time and disappear into oblivion) had and option of yes/no or accept/decline (both are yes/no)

Thrawn.776: You should not change sth good to sth mediocre.

OK, you've done some changes (again). Where's the button to revert the library to the old look??????
avatar
Siilk: Exactly. Don't fix something that ain't broken, gog. Shelves with manual sorting was what made people like gog account view in the first place and treat it as, well, their "game library", a place where you can hop in from time to time just to have a look at their collection instead of just downloading the game they bought and forgetting about account page.
i agree.
the shelves were there when gog started, in many ads and links in magazines there were screenshots showing the shelves.
steam never had shelves i guess (dont know for sure cause i only joined it for fun , and lots of users were talking about it so i got curious)

Also joined gamersgate (also because people told about it and i got curious and created an account)
before i joined steam.

There's a lot 'wrong' with GG, it has lots of shoppingcart issues, slow, has slow support etc etc etc...

The only good thing they have left is the old wooden (dark wood) shelf with manual sorting, a list view option is also available this shows all , but with pages at the bottom so it shows like 1/10 .

The shelves will be one huge long vertical shelf that can be scrolled ( no pages 1/100) but one big scroll.
I dont know how long it can be only have 90 games or so (99% are casual games)
but it works.

Like i said, the rest is pretty rubbish(the staff is very unfriendly)
only good thing is the old shelf.

Tried to chat with someone not on my friends list which results in constant loading... that never loads, just spins.

Also not sure if related to this change, but I bought two games which are now stuck in my cart after purchase and can't be removed.

JudasIscariot: You can add custom tags to sort through your library[..]
Luckly, I didn't even use the manual sorting option.
The new tags and filters are a good addition, but they should really be enabled also for the catalog (example: option to filter out "owned" and "unwanted" games).

the tag system is not a bad thing indeed , but it can't do the job all alone... there is definitely a serious issue regarding the sorting of games (when in the same serie, games have their order messed up... why not make a sorting filter by "game release date" ? (not the release on gog but the initial release year)
it sounds not too difficult and would get rid of a serious problem.

so far, you CANT just "sort" things through your library with tags only.

That's an internal sorting problem (mostly caused by the messy unbundly): users shouldn't need to fix that.
Default ordering by the initial release date or by series+alias would be perfect.

That's because tags are not meant to be used for sorting, only for "filtering" and "searching", as was made very clear by Chamb in his OP of this thread.

Well, you can sort them by "Users Reviews" - why would one want to sort according to their own priorities when they can do it based on those of others? /S

On a more serious note, as far as I know, there was no word by a blue text saying anything in regards to future plans about the Wishlist.

Some games are released out of order. Like prequels and even pre-prequels. A faux hidden sort filed would help here, like they have in iTunes. You can actually fill it out manually in iTunes to change the sort order to your liking.

Djaron: ...
download/install size through galaxy sometimes is bigger (saying it about an up to date game with no update at all), like for example Dyad (1.1 gb soever through gog installer, 1.5 gb through galaxy)
the plain installer thing has a version number (or had, they renamed many things) and, until the rollback promised feature is lived, it is the only way to keep track of various versions
plus, speaking on my prsonnal case, the galaxy client has some downloa dissue on some computers (without clear reasons), while on same machine the gog downloader or the internet browser would go at full speed.

plus sometimes people have a need to download a game from a machine that is not the one they would install the game to (as would do galaxy)
I didn't know this, especially not the significantly increased download size with Galaxy. This is very strange.

Well then for now I would not recommend to use Galaxy for downloads then. Better to use the still working gog-downloader or gogrepo (http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gogrepopy_python_script_for_regularly_backing_up_your_purchased_gog_collection_for_full_offline_e) a very powerful (with update option) python script.
